Default Tein Coil Replacement/Re-Build

I have a blown front strut, its a Tein Comfort Sport setup. I have spoken with Tein N.A. about repair and its appx $500. Apparently they have to ship them all the way back to Japan to be re-valved or something.

Anyway, I have three questions:

1. Anyone know if its possible to just buy the front pair and if so, where?

2. My EDFC went wonky when I unplugged the front sensors and now the rears are basically stuck at the softest setting. Its nice for a drag setup, but crap for cornering. Any remedy for this short of removing the rears to take the stepper motors off and set them manually?

3. Has anyone sent their stuff out to be repaired? What was the turn time like? Should I expect to be down for the entire season?
