Very true but you need to buy 2-piece rotors to achieve the weight of OEM Brembo's and regular rotors.

do the Akebono Rear Calipers Need 14' rotors? All I see are 14' kits....

I have 12.75 rear rotors, and wondering if could use them with those calipers as an easy upgrade. Just buying the calipers.

as ppl have said...akebono is a good price for the "looks" part of the BBK and is a modest upgrade in performance. Most people I've seen on threads are using them to get that look paired with aftermarket wheels. If you are going to track though spending $2K on the akebono upgrade is inefficient for the performance return over stock. Spend a little more for a better brand like stoptech.

Doin willwood 14' on front....just dont want to leave rears with nothing. akeb rear kit pretty cheap...wished it worked with the 12.75 rear rotor. As I have a set that matches perfectly with the Willwood 2piece front rotor.

car not tracked at all. Is going to have 600+ hp though.lol.

EDIT: found Z1 kit that sells just the rotors. ill piece together a rear kit.lol.

Have you driven a Z with the Akebonos? I have them and could not disagree with you more.

First, I got them for less than 1000 with the heavy front rotors, I drove on them for about 9k and got a steal on the 2 piece DBAs I now have.

All in I am under 1500 and have 14" rotors I can sell (although I have as yet to try)

They work great, look great and are a very good option at a bargain price new, and a steal if you take your time and get them used.

How are the pad choices? that was the biggest decision that steered me away from them when I was bbk shopping. Eventually went with tried and true stoptechs.

EBC has red, green & yellow which is everything I will ever need. I currently have reds.

Pretty much every major manufacturer makes pads for them so you are covered.

That was the clincher, that you can use many many kinds of pads by numerous manufacturers.

oh trust me i know all about spending money, paid about 11k for the car itself but have about 25k invested in motor, clutch, wheels, tires, turbo kit, exhuast, fuel system. still need axles and diff but the stock lsd appears to at least be mildly working still.

like was mentioned can go with brembos and 2 piece rotors for brembos and get the same performance as the akebono but significantly less weight, supposedly the akebono calipers are heavy as **** too. honestly not even sure if the akebonos would even fit under my tsw interlaggos wheels but not really interested in that option, more interested in brembos when i can afford them. cant justify the same weight from a bigger rotor(which even if it is the same weight as stock your moving weight further from the hub which is effectively increasing weight for acceleration or braking) when i can get all the performance i need from a smaller rotor, and have less weight then stock to boot.

Lol..^^ at least you guys didn't spend 36k on a new car like I did and THEN do all this stuff.
2k brakes
3500 in wheels,
5k in body n wrap
5k on interior and electronics
17k on.block n fi build
another 5k in clutch fly, urethane for suspension, bushings, coils..and as usual, this ain't including labor which I dont do much of myself lol.

Lol.. could never have imagined EVER doing this or even being in the position to do so.. ... feel very lucky for that at least...

But it was nearly time to stop.. so it was akebono all the way fer me...i plan to upgrade to dba fronts..but ill do so when its time to.replace what I bought....

Lol..back on topic haha.
