Default $1600 for Suspension Upgrades

And not sure what to do with it. I think my engine modifications are pretty much done for now unless I get the itch for cams and an ECU flash sometime this summer. So, now I want to move onto the suspension. Except for the 19" Volks and Toyos the suspension is stock. I am just not sure which route I want to take. This is what I am thinking so far:

1. RSR springs + 350EVO sways
2. Nismo S-tune + sways
3. Konis + sways

I am not sure if camber adjustment will be needed with any of these options but if so then I will increase my budget if needed. What do you all think? I want a stock-like ride minus porpoising, a little stiffer is ok, with less body roll in the corners.

NISMO S-Tune with NISMO sways can be had for that price. If you cannot find them for it PM me and I will put you in touch with who to get them from. Furthermore, S-Tune will acheive exactly what you are looking for. It does not lower the car much and the alignement can be put back into spec. It handles MUCH better and will cure about 85% of the bounce. I LOVE mine and am totally happy with my decision to install it. Seriously, the S-Tune is the answer. Let me know if you need help on the price but check with Performance first.

Thanks!! If I go that route I will be in touch. BTW, does the Nismo S-Tune have to be installed by a dealer to retain the warranty?? I hate paying for installation fees when I can do the work myself.

I THINK it only has to be purchased through a dealer to retain the warranty but I am not 100% on that. If you need me it will be through a dealer so not to worry.

The Konis + 350Evo sways are around $1211 + shipping. The Nismo S-Tune run in the $1700 range. zzzya I am looking for a similar handling/ride balance.

The RSR springs + sways is even cheaper, but I am not sure if that porpoising will be eliminated enough. Although if I was not happy with the RSR springs I wouldn't be out much and would be able to sell them to take a minimal loss. Once the car is lowered is it really necessary to get the nicer sways?? I could always try the springs and see if that floats my boat. The upgrade in wheels and tires made a pretty big difference already, but like most I am always looking for more.

S-Tune suspension needs to be purchased from an Authorized NISMO Distributer so they can add your VIN to the S-Tune suspension to retain your warranty...

If you purchse from US, we will add to your VIN all the info about the S-Tune and you can even do the install your self.

Alignment is recomended after install...

Yes yes if you purchase from us it will also be an authorized NISMO distributor also. My father has some dealerships so don't worry about that. We are not vendors on this site so I don't promote anything and always recommend you check with PerformanceNissanParts.com first. If you can't find the price let me know. That's all I'm saying.

I'd recommend the Nismo S-tune stuff.. It's non-adjustable and already setup for the Z. Nearly "plug and play" install, and you keep your warranty too. Most people seem very happy with them.

Unless you have the expertise and ability to tune the 350EVO sways for your setup, I wouldn't recommend them. They seem like a part more appropriate for people who track their car regularly.

What if I throw out the thought of a coilover system. The one thing I do not like about the Nismo setup for the money is the fact that it is not adjustable height wise. I know springs alone would not be adjustable either but also a lot less money. I sometimes think about this because I live in Iowa and we can get some deep snow. I would be able to raise the car in the winter and lower it again for the summer for a lttle better clearance. There is a GB going on for the Tein Flex right now, but just not sure how much more stiff that ride would be. The one thing about most coilovers that has me worried is the stiffness of the ride. I don't want something luxury like, but on the other hand, I don't want my teeth to fall out either. Are the Tein Flex with EDFC or the JIC coilover systems really that stiff?

the coilovers from Tein and JIC are fully adjustable, from luxury-car smooth to bone rattling stiff, your choice.

I just caution you because to truly get the best handling and ride out of coilovers, you need to corner weight your car and tune accordingly. Simply setting every shock to the same compression and rebound value isn't really correct, and could degrade performance when compared to the stock setup. Suspension tuning is a difficult task, and I'm only learning. I won't buy a single suspension part until I find a reputable place where I can cornerweight my car and learn how to tune it appropriately.

If you never try, you may never learn. I am never afraid of learning something new and this would be something of interest.

The Konis are not height adjustable correct? Which version is the one you are taking preorders for? The stock height or the one with a slight drop? And just how slight is this drop? Your sway bars I am definately interested in out of all of them, but would probably go with the Nismo if I went with the Nismo S-tune for matching purposes.

Right now we are just doing the koni shocks pre order.(just the shocks themselves.)
The springs would determine the ride height. There are all sorts of ideas on the table. Just trying to get them done in time for the shocks release.

Will the Konis match well with the other springs that are out right now for our car? Say, if I went with RSR springs and liked the drop but it didn't eliminate enough of the porpoising. Would the Konis still be ok to install later on or would I need a different set of springs that are matched for the Konis?

I believe the Konis were designed to work with the OEM springs. BJ correct me if I am wrong. The Koni's are rebound adjustable so you can adjust them to work with other springs.
