Question about shocks.
My friend has a Lexus is300 and its time for me to get new shocks. His shocks from the 300 have been laying in the garage since he got to car pretty much. He told me the shocks look like they would fit the 350. I thought "Impossible". But I wanted to ask here. I have found nothing related. So im thinking they wont work. But I figured id ask here and get a for sure answer.

He thinks they would fit because the shocks "look" the same.....get real how else are shocks going to look. measure them, do some research, or just try to put them on. The reason you are asking us is because yo dont want to waste the time to try it yourself. stop wasting everyone's time and just try it.
^ The time it would take him to try to put them on and the time it would take for a simple reply from someone who may know the answer are very different. It's worth asking for him, don't be an as$hole "realist"

Do you really think that any of us would try throwing used Toyota shocks on our cars. Even if they fit, is the dampening set for the Z, doubt it.
Stock shocks made for a 4 door Lexus will not be ideal for a Z even if they fit, not even worth the effort
Just put them on Craigslist and don't bother trying to run this, no benefit to you at all

sorry for being rude but the forum is becoming people who want to save money by using generic parts or parts designed for other cars to save money. I have seen people ask if honda civic lowering springs work for 350zs. people trying to make their own intakes to save money, or the newest on will 17x6.5 wheels fit on the Z. So when people ask crazy questions like this it makes me face palm
and reassures the fact that the people that are owning Zs are changing. Had you just looked at the shocks you would have answered your own question. If you notice the bottom of the shock the 350z has a fork the IS does not. The front coilover has the spring on the bottom instead of the top, and the IS has the wrong mounting points for the brake lines. So your answer is no they wont fit, and that is just a visual inspection, not to mention spring rates, dampening strength or designed ride height. Not to mention the simple fact of trusting a part not designed for my car at 150mph, high stress situations, and the difference of a sedan to a coupe.

They're really good for DD. slightly better than a new OEM set, and definitely 100% better than an oem set with 80,000+ miles on it. Supposedly it's also designed for lowering springs, but idk anything about that. I have them on mine until I get new wheels so I can drop the car on K-Sports

Why not just wait and buy those instead of dropping $300 now only to lose money when it's time to buy coilovers?

Here's my best suggestion. Pick up some used OEM shocks from a Z guy for dirty cheap and run them until you're ready for a good setup. You can typically find a pair of rear shocks for $20-$50. You can then sell them in the "near future" for exactly what you paid for them because you wouldn't have put enough mileage on them to further decrease their value.
