Default Brembo Swap help

Alright, I found someone local willing to trade brake systems plus a little cash. I get the Brembos off their G35 and put my stock touring Z set on his(calipers/rotors). Looks pretty straight foward. Just wondering if anyone has done this? Any problems I might run into? I've changed my own brakes before(not this car),the only thing that looks a little tricky to me is the dust shields, how do they come off?

The only difference seems to be in the rear bolts, the fronts are the same.

As for the shields just cut them.

just put mine on too, you can either buy new Track dust shields for the back (more work), or cut them. I just cut them. You will need the longer caliper mounting bolts for the rear, just swap all the hardware from the other car and you'll be okay. I also swapped out the standard brake lines for stainless at this time and used Motul brake fluid.

So I won't have to do any cutting on the G. It's not mine and really don't wan't to. Can I leave those shields on when I transfer my brakes over. I don't mind cutting mine off.

Actually, I did the swap for him
It is straight forward, but as mentioned, some of the caliper mounting bolts have different thread pitch, and trimming the rear dust shield on the non-brembo car.

Also, I find that bleeding the brembos is a *****, I had the dealer rebleed mine after I changed to ss lines, just for the peace of mind.

Credit where credit is due.

So on the G35 you don't have to worry about the shields? Just install the calipers and rotor with correct bolts?

Did you switch brake lines on the cars as well or will the brembo lines work with reg. brakes and the other way around. I'm doing this Sunday so I can't order SS lines fast enough. Will be going to them eventually though.

used the stock lines, I don't think we needed to swap them out, but I can't remember for sure.

As for the dust shield on the G, it was larger than the one from the non-brembo brakes we replaced, so we just left it there.

wow, what a day. A true learning experience. Took a couple hous to get the first set of calipers swapped, then I figured out I did nave to switch the brakes lines. After that things went a lot smoother. I just disconnected the brake line from the inner fender and to 2 bolts that hold the caliper and rotor on the spindle. Just a straight swap car to car. The G35 truned out perfect. My car is still has some issues. Pedal is real mushy still. I blead the brakes 3 times each and got both sides of each caliper. I ordered new pads to see if this helps because the ones I put on don't have much life left. My 19's don't fit over the front calipers do I have to get them studded and a spacer on each, backs fit fine. No real major issues. I'm gonna sleep well tonight. Thanks for the imput guys!

You'll need a spacer or new wheels if they don't fit. You may need longer studs too. Check here if you need stud info:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=45605

For Nismo: 40222-RS045 (60mm) or 40222-RS035 (50mm)
