Default Squeal from rear caliper?

Hi all,

I have an inconsistent squeal that is driving me mad. Sometimes when driving along at 40mph I hear a loud squeal coming from what sounds like behind me. If i touch the brakes, the noise goes away and then when I release the brake pedal it returns. Its loud, but not harsh, and while it only appears while travailing at or over 40 mph, it does not occur every time I travel over 40 mph. Is anyone familiar with this issue?

I had the squeel as well and it wound up needed new rear brakes and rotors turned. It would only happen during a 35-40 MPH roll and I would tap the brakes it would go away.Got the rear brakes done and no more noise. My squeel wasnt ridiculously loud , but I coud def hear it.

I believe HK350Z is right. There are tabs on the brake pads that when the pads are at their service limit the metal tab will rub on the rotor thus letting the driver know the pads are almost gone.

piston locked up on mine recently. it had a hole in the boot and crap got in. the piston wouldent fully retract and it rubbed against the rotor. i took the piston out and cleaned out all the dirt. works fine now, will last untill i get the rear bbk.

A lot of time noise is from metal on metal moving. Check back of pads they may need a little grease
