Coilover spring replacements/alternatives?
How does one go about finding a replacement for coilover springs?
Do I have to go to the manufacturer of the suspension? Are there companies that make springs of different dimensions, so I can find the right match?
I want to soften the back end a bit. Megan Racing track coils come with 14lb(F) and 12lb(R) springs. While the front isn't bad, the rear is a bit jumpy, and the car doesn't squat enough under acceleration. Besides, sounds like, in the 350z, I would want half the stiffness for the rear. About 7-8 pounds, right?
TIA

You generally go through the manufacturer. But if they give you a hard time, take measurements of what you got now and these guys make most sizes in whatever spring rate you want.
Measure the ID (inside diameter) and the length of your current springs. Get in touch with any of the big spring manufacturers or people who sell their springs and get a custom order. I can suggest Swift from personal experience. Give them the info about your current springs and what you want to accomplish.
And in now way am I trying to insult your intelligence, but if you have a True coilover rear, make sure you took out the factory springs in the factory location. That happens more than you think.

I don't believe you
Both Megan and Hypercoils got back to me with products. Pretty cool. Although Megan representative sounded defensive and passively aggressive, as if I was insulting their engineering expertise
As long as you're going with the same spring rate or lower you shouldn't have to worry about a re-valve.
