Brake Rotor slots - which way?

Default Brake Rotor slots - which way?

Looking at pics in the Big Brake Pic thread, I see that in most slotted rotor setups the outer end of the slot hits the caliper first. In other cases, it's the inside end of the slot hits the caliper first.

So, which is correct, and more importantly, why?

Has to do with the internal veins, not the slots.
