Default coilover rebound settings

I have always been curious to find out if the rebound settings found on most coilovers actually do anything in terms of performance/handling. On the track will it make a difference if my rebound is set to full soft vs full stiff? If so, what should they typically be set at for the track?

Thanks

They should make a difference, full soft to full hard with a quality coilover will change the car a lot. Soft to hard with a china coilover will still be crap.

+1 ^^^

Your dampener settings make a huge difference on handling and performance, terra summed it up the best though.
