Default Struts & Shocks

Maybe I am crazy but do not see anything posted about replacing struts and shocks. Can anyone direct or tell me what kind of price and how hard a job replacing these items might be?

Simple, rear is beyond easy. The front take just slightly more skill than changing brake pads.

Read the suspension 101 thread, familiarize yourself with the 350z by jacking it up, going out to it with a flash light with the first 3 pages of the suspension 101 thread printed out....

get yourself acclimated with the car and its components...

I make mention in there also that the rear shocks, though they are very easy to remove, you want to take caution turning the two nuts on the top in the wheel well....its a funky angle and people get sloppy...then ruh roh, the welded stud of a bolt snaps and the simple rear shock replacement becomes a mini nightmare....all do to inexperienced mechanic work....

line up on the socket onto the nut straight! ensure you arent putting any twisting loads and that the socket is lined up straight!! hold ratchet at a perfect 90 degrees to the nut and tap, tap, then twist, spraying with liquid wrench prior is a good prequel.....

the fronts - strut bar and things are mentioned in the 101 thread as well..

AFTER you get the entire front STRUT shock unit off the car,,
just get a blanket and cover and use an impact and remove the top center nut, the oem spring pressure on the top plate i minimal, it wont be forcefull coming off, but caution/safety first always...

its not bad at all...i agree its not much harder than doing a brake job yourself like Tsmack mentioned...

I also mention some basic oem replacement shocks in the 101 thread as well... have fun..
