Maybe for you.... I have a neighbor with a ,I believe an 06 maxima and he has some Function and Form Coilovers he bought for around 800.00. I've lived next door to him for about 5 years and I'm thinking he must have had them on there for at least 3 years. Are they the best, not by a long shot but he likes them and the stance is pretty nice. I can't speak for ride quality because I've never driven with him. His goal is completely looks and I think for 800.00 it was a deal.
He just said his budget was 5k, and he is looking for the coilovers to actually work, function and form are decent for a DD, but wont handle track abuse.

If you've got a 5k budget, why not go with an Aragosta suspension setup? You can custom build that for around the $3800-$4200 mark. As long as your shock bodies are shorter than stock (and they will be) and your spring rates are higher than stock (which they will be), you'll get lower than where you are now. Not that KW isn't good, and not that Ohlins aren't decent, buy at that budget, why go with an off the shelf setup when you don't have to. I believe most people use what they use based on what they can afford. If I had 5k to spend on JUST suspension, I wouldn't have an off the shelf setup.

The main thing, you have to know what you want and what you are doing.

^^^ something like this! but probably a damper more popular in the states/Z community. KW offers stuff above Clubsports, JRZ is all custom make , Ohlins is probably out of budget once you get into their race lineup.

I spec'd out double Ohlins TTX's for $4500 last year (no top mounts or springs). They are not made for the Z33 platform. You would have to supply them the body/stroke length, etc. They package easier than remote shocks and are lighter. You also have a nearly infinite availability of custom valving. Also, the TTX's offer tremendous range in adjustment as compared to other high end shocks. You can also upgrade to 3,4 or 5 way adjustment down the road.
I haven't heard Koni 2812's mentioned either. They also package well and would be a bit cheaper than the TTX. The adjusters are a little more of a pain to get to, though.
