i just bought a 2003 350z enthusiast model. i have knocking noises coming from the shocks/struts. i haven't taken wheels off to examine yet, and was hoping this was common problem to fix? what is that knocking noise? to me it sounds like something between the strut and strut housing......it has 175k miles. i can see where someone put some grease on top of struts, and maybe it was to hide the problem?

 

how many miles on car. I would check your lower front control arm bushings. Your car is older so might need to get some new bushings.

I had to change mine out in the rear. Was making a thumping sound every time there was a slight bump on the road.


Also make sure your shock mount gaskets are still there.
