Default I need some brake ducting tips

Used occasional for tight mtn drives. I don't need bling, l just want to keep cool and low on dust. The brakes are strong enough it seems for my aggression level.

I'm thinking ducting along with quality pads and fluid should work a treat. So what are some of your recommendations?

Look at the thread in the Motorsports section about them. IMO , not needed unless you see the race track frequently

IME, my '08 brakes need cooling for spirited driving in my local mtn roads.
Thanks for the tip.

Maybe you should stop driving like DK. Brembos, pads, and fluid are more than enough for the average track star, i dont think mountain driving would be worse unless youre driving like a jerk.

Thanks for the tip.
What is happening, brakes get spongy or firm pedal with no bite? The vast majority of the track community does not have additional brake cooling

I only let it get to the point of smelling hot brakes. This was an issue descending on very tight and twisting roads(Decker Cyn. and Latigo near Mulholland Hwy).
Tomorrow I'll be doing a long-ish drive on a more open mtn road. I hope it does better than my old Avalon. lol
I know i'll be hating the funky trans fluid smell. Not sure why the AT smells after smashing the throttle even one time.

Start with some quality brake pads that are more suited for your needs. Hawk HP+, Carbotech XB8 maybe EBC yellow.

Thanks...and the lowest dust factor goes to?

Def the simple things first. Recs for brake and trans fluids?

Brake ventilation would likely be diy Deflectors. Not such a tortured path. Looks to be a practice for some upper end brand's. See how things progress.

Low dust goes to , who the freak cares when you are running this type of pad. Dust is not a concern as you get into beginner Motorsport pads.

Motul 600 or ATE type 200 are the common brake fluids, but any Dot 4 will work fine considering it just street driving.

Trans fluid, Amsoil and a few others have worked great in the trans

Since its an automatic, a nice sized aftermarket trans cooler is a must.

Stay away from the EBC brakes. those things are garbage unless your just putting redstuffs in a grocery getter. The yellowstuff pads have such an inconsistent coefficient of friction across the temp range its not even funny. Your "smell" issue is because you took your oem pads over their operating temps. Get a good street/autox pad and a fluid change and your set.

XP8's are a good recommendation but I think I would say the new stoptech street performance pads might meet what your looking for, they have really impressed the hell out of me on spirited mountain drives. Lower dust than the XP8's but slightly lower operating temps.
