just picked up a set of brembo calipers. had to pounce on the deal.
Other reason i went with brembos is because akebonos won't clear my wheels w/o spacers. Can't really go wrong with either though like people have been saying.

That is a matter of opinion. I love my OEM wheels. We are fortunate to have a car that offers very nice stock wheels, such as track V1, track V2, anniversary, Nismo.

Very Select few on this forum come with Nismo or the track wheels compared to the rest of the people on here. But either way I'd rather do wheels any day what's the point of great brakes with a 245 tire? Either way I plan on wheels and tires. So why not do them first and get rid of a problem? I don't worry about if the brakes would clear so one less thing to worry about.

So yes, matter of opinion

I'm taking my time on wheel selection (still dont fully understand offset) id love a set of 370 Nismo or the lmz5's buuuuuuuuuut that's needle in a haystack. even on the 370 forums. and my current wheels have fresh meat on them. (that and i got a wedding in a month then trip to Italy to visit her family and Ferrari)

Offset is simply the distance in mm between the mounting surface and the center line of the wheel. A zero offset would then mean the mounting surface is perfectly inline with the center of the wheel. A positive offset means the mounting surface is closer to the outside edge of the wheel. A negative offset means the mounting surface is closer to the inside edge of the wheel.

The closer the mounting surface gets to the outside edge, the more sunk in your wheel gets. The closer the mounting surface gets to the inside edge, the more it's going to poke out.

This thread might help you with this. My usual "wordy" posts but may help you to better understand what offset is/does/how to determine...

Is there a spare tire which can be used with the Akebono's? I know a lot of cars don't come with spares now, but there are places here in FL where I can be 50+ miles away from anywhere, so even though I have towing through my car insurance, I like the security of having a spare which works with my Brembo's.

Spare from a 370z or G37 is what I picked up.

The 350Z standard spare is 16" , while the Brembo is 17", and the 17" became standard on all the later cars (HR maybe?). So, the Akebono spare would have to be at least 18".

You could always just hope for a rear blowout in which cause I believe the spare will still fit over the rear akebono. If you get a front blowout and only have the 350z spare, you could put a rear wheel on the front and put the spare on the rear. A hassle but I believe it would work.

That is exactly what I would do. I have my OEM spare and knock on wood never have to do this, but worst case scenario it will work.

That's a lot of work to not be sure if it'll even fit in the rear. I'd rather buy the 370Z one from a salvage yard then risk it. Less to be worried about

I only have front Akebono so I know the spare will fit on the rear.

Either way I have a second set of wheels at home and I only drive my Z locally so I could always have a friend or my father bring me another wheel if it is ever a big deal.

Maybe one day I will get a different spare, but it is not on my list of things to do.

Using that sh*tty sissor jack is the most cumbersome part which you have to do anyway. Once the car is up, removing one extra wheel is not a big deal.
