i know my current PosiQuite are possibly the most dusty pads I've ever had on a car. I'll definitely be aiming towards a track pad when i do this upgrade next year
Those are the same pads I have and mine are dusty as hell too. I've been hesitant to change though because they are supposed to be less dusty than other street pads so I wouldn't want to make my problem worse. I can completely wash the wheels and within 50 miles of driving, even with minimal braking, the fronts have a noticeable layer of dust on them.

I use the EBC Red's, and after the first few hundred miles of break-in, not a bit of dust.

That would be awesome actually. I'll have to consider them when these centric pads are worn out. There have been many times that I was on the fence about washing my car; the paint and everything barely looked like it had been used since the last wash but the front wheels were dusty as hell (literally the only dirty part of the car) so I said fck it and washed the entire thing.

I'm serious about the no dust thing. My wife has an Acura TL-S, and she was washing the damn thing twice a week because of the brake dust on the front wheels from the OEM pads. Switched to the EBC Red's several years ago, and now she just washes it maybe once a month.

But have you guys used these on the track? I need a pad that can take track abuse but not a track only pad.

my wheels are horribly dusty from the brakes and i hardly drive the car!

I've been looking up pads and still not set on what to use. Only really drive the car on weekends so aiming more for trackish pad

The EBC Red's might to it for you, of the track isn't too demanding, but the Yellow's are their dedicated track pad. You can get by with the Yellow's on the street, but they are dusty. Tough to get all you want at the same time.

Id much rather deal with dust then no brakes at the track!

the main thing i don't want to have is pads that don't work on the street. Like say a colder day, or even a pad that doesnt brake till it has real heat i dont want to not have brakes on the street, thats my biggest concern. I can deal with dust, it's more annoying then unsafe

Run your Brembos hard enough, long enough and eventually they change color.
Approx 20+ track events. Dust boots only started to crack after last 50 laps...and an even dramatic color change.

Carbotech XP20 pads, Castrol SRF fluid, and Hankook RS3 tires.

Default with the Akebono BBK in the front, do brembo rotors work with the Akebono calipr

Hint: download the brake fit template from CZP and use this on your 35th wheels to see if they'll clear, at least as accurate as a cardboard template can be. Heh heh...

Pros and cons.... well, I don't think there are any real "cons", vis-a-vis stock non-Brembo brakes other than fit. S'far as replacement pad availability (something often overlooked by BBK shoppers), well, NO ISSUE with either. Any pad from factory stock to racing compounds are made for BOTH caliper/rotor combination. Likely a few more to select from for Brembo than the Aks, just based on how long the Track Brembos have been around, comparatively. (Plus, the same Brembo caliper is available on other platforms besides Nissan).

I have all three generations of brakes from "Standard non-Brembos" on my '03, Brembo on my '08 Niz, Akebono on our '12 Niz.

Which ones are better?

Wellllllll, the standard brakes do NOT compare to either of the sport set ups for obvious reasons.... lack of swept area, insufficient clamping force, etc., even with my grippy new Carbotech 1521 pads. Pretty much what one expects when comparing the three.

The braking of both the Brembos and the Akebonos are simply superior. Better feel and easier to modulate - especially important during heel/toe, trail brake maneuvers - but if I had to give one of them the edge on raw stopping power, I'd give it to the Brembos on my '08. Both our Nismos are equipped with standard street pads but or some reason the '08 just seems to do their job a tad better.

However, I can't really give you empirical data to support this but from butt dyno and my own internal decelerometer , this is my "conclusion". Different/new pads for both (PMu coming soon on the '08, and eventually a set of the new "OEM" Nismo pads for our Z34N/Akebono...actually made by Ferodo) could change this dynamic, however. Again, a very small sample upon which to base a conclusion.

You can't go wrong with either, however. Me personally, I'd get the Akebono kit (from Z1 or CZP or ???) simply because they're NEW. Paying $1000 for a used (and therefore "unknown") Brembo setup versus buying the Akebono setup for $600 more makes more long term sense to me as I'm more inclined to spend more for peace of mind and NOT have to worry about premature re-builds due to bad/dry seals, sticky pistons, stripped feed holes, etc. (Especially if they haven't been wet for a while, off the car waiting to be sold...)

My devalued $0.02....

Cheers,

Mic

And just happen to have illustrative sample to accent this post...

Heh heh....

Do Brembo rotors work with Akebono calipers?

No. Rotor size (diameter) and width are very different. The Akebono rotors are 14" versus the Brembos a under 13" (like 12.8" or somesuch).

Ultra bling would be GTR brakes with the $14k AMS carbon kit.

But no polished gold, and then you need custom brackets.

Every BBK ever uses custom brackets, no big deal. You will impress more people with carbon discs than with a shiny caliper.

All this talk about “bling” and huge 16” rotors or R35 carbon super dooper hot shid calipers coating more than the cost of an entire Z33…

Right. Like anyone here is gonna do that. 🤣 Or need to. Good luck warming up those brakes.

I like to use the Nintendo cartridge trick during my pre-run inspection to get the dust out of them and warm them up nice and toasty.
