I'm trying to make sure that I can afford the brembos and the maintenance costs.
try courtesyparts.com. you can buy the akebono bbk using the 370 section just need to order the brackets for like z1 or something. but the oem 370 stuff is all there rotors brakes lines ect.

Thank you so much, really made my day. I don't know what I said that provoked you to say that but I'm not questioning it. Truth is, I'm not here to brag and front on an internet forums. I love my z as much as the next guy and my situation financially and logistically is what it is so no need to try to cover it up. thank you again!

Why? The Akebono setup is never going to be less expensive than a set of used OEM Brembo's, and there are fitment issues with some of the OEM and many aftermarket wheels.

also note that akebonos are ~$1200 that's everything even rotors and pads. While brembo calipers seem to be ~$1000. I could be wrong and I haven't done enough research and pricing yet but the akebonos seem like the way to go if I don't just end up painting the stock calps.

My akebonos are sexy as hell.. Bought them used off of a 19k mile G, I cant say anything bad about either set up, but the akebonos are physically bigger with a bigger rotor an to me looks perfect behind the factory 18" wheel

np, man. Fresh blood is always welcome.
Some folk come here fresh, telling lies about their wants/needs/ budget asking for help.

It is refreshing when you come in here honestly saying you want a cosmetic change. Looks like the boys were pretty fair with you, and you've got several options to chase.

Good luck, man. Post up after pics, too!

The Akebono set-up is great for the cost. If you have the money, I would definitely recommend going that route. You may not think you need the extra braking power, but you certainly will not complain about it. Upgraded brakes will only improve your driving experience. On top of that, they will look great - significantly better than spraying the stock OEM brakes. My $.02. Good luck.

Add me to the +1 group.

It's cosmetic junk, IMO. Who wants to call attention to wimpy brakes just to make a fashion statement?

Go big or leave 'em plain. You'll find that after a week, you'll be bored. Where I live, I see "BBKs" all the time - both real and faux. Call me jaded if you must...

This is dreamy....

This not so much.

Devalued - but solicited - $.02....

One of the best aesthetic upgrades I did to my Z was to install a set of lightly used OEM Brembos. If I remember correctly I bought them for $900 which was about the going rate (which did not include rotors). By the time I bought rotors and paid for installating including stainless lines and new brake fluid I was probably all-in around $1500. Not bad all in all. I have no regrets.

Look into the SRT-8 BBK conversion. It's not posted on the forums btw their is a fb group that specializes in it. You can pick up the BBK for like $300 on ebay and buy the brackets and get out of the door with a BBK for less than $1000.
You're welcome .

Do you have the eBay link? Just curious to see what you're talking about.

rockautoparts actually has rebuilt Brembo's for $310/pair shipped, core charges included, and I know because I got a set as spares two weeks ago. They're bare aluminum, so you'd have to paint or powder coat them, but pistons and hardware are all new, so all you need is pads and lines. I'd get them while they're available, as they often don't have cores. They sometimes have rears, too, but they're a little more expensive. If you buy the rears, you also need new mounting bolts from Nissan.

If anyone's interested, I've got a brand new set of front Stoptech pads for sale the classifieds, too.
