OEM Brembos to Big Brembos
Hello Everyone,
Just like how the title stated, I currently have stock brembos on my 08 Z and was wondering if it be possible to just buy bigger brembo caliper and swap them on. (Planning on building a 500hp Z in the near future.)If so what brand would you all advise on getting? Brembo, stop tech?
Your opinions are highly appreciated.
Thanks

Oh with 500hp you bet I am going to track it. Also I think it'll be safer to have it with all those horsepower. I was just thinking about maybe swapping out the oem bremo CALIPER for bigger ones instead of buying the whole kit if possible
Bigger brake doesnt mean better stoping power.
You cant just swap out the caliper, youll need oads, rotors and maybe even lines. And if its just front and not rear, youll have a brake bias problem.
i suggest you research before you speak. stoptech did a test on their brake kit up grade front and back and the stopping distance at 60mph is about 1-2 feet better. thats from a new, 6k kit.
so no bigger brake doesnt mean better stopping. but please continue on passing your personal opinion as facts.

lol
No stopping power increase, just better heat dissipation that is needed for repeated high speed stops that happen with track use.
The OEM brembo calipers are good, to upgrade you would need a full kit with bigger rotors. They will do little for you unless you are able to drive it on a roadcourse with sticky tires and have the driver mod performed to put down good times.

and a bbk upgrade kit is worthless without a fluid and line up grade since those are usually the first to go.
i also want to add that a decent pad upgrade from stock can also help with braking performance. but in general, tires are the main point that stops that car.

Recap with what you say, pads and fluid, the two major things that most people need for limited performance use (track days) if you do more and more days of track use, get lines. If the car is really serious, a bbk , ducts etc etcbecome a factor

Tell me, did you snag my biz name too? "Sick Mic's House of Ill Tahrs & Whills"?
rotas will be making the wheels.
Lines, not really as much. They are getting old on some of the Z's but not that bad. Fluid is a huge one, just because quality fluid can take the heat. The main reason track guys change lines is because of heat, prolonged exposure to extremely high heat wears them down faster than street driving.

but yes, basically were both saying the same thing.
99 out of 100 times, when you change to braided lines the they feel better, it's because of the fresh, good fluid.
Hmmm i have always had fade with stock lines, but then i let it cool and everything is all good again. But then again that couldve been the fluids itself. Always learn something new on this forum.
