Default Clearence on True style coilovers with 18x12s

Hey all,

Anyone know if i went with a "true" style coilover if i would rub with an 18x12 -2. Or should i go with an OEM Style coilover? Still Cant decided on a set of coilovers..Buddy club fortune auto etc but those are both true style.

Any input apprecited!

yes , now only OEM on fortune

I have Stance true , very happy with them

you will need to give more info to answer if they will rub

f & r diameter & width
f & r tires sizes
f & r wheel offsets
willing to buy fuca & rear camber arms ( to dial in negative camber ) ?
willing to roll rears ?

then we can assist better

Okay, fronts shouldn't be a problem at all..18x9.5 with 225 +45 about and a 1.5 inch spacer.

Rears
18x12 -2 offset
295/35/18....most likely

Yes i will buy rear camber arms, what do u suggest? price?
Fenders will be rolled.

Sorry i didn't include enough info!

Front will wind up + 7 or + 8 offset with a 225 / 35 should be good

Rear rim size and offset with a roll and a bit of - camber should work , with a 275/35 will work, 295/35 can be certain

i would use 275-35 on the rear but that's me

I like SPL , Voodoo , Stance , power by max , for ARMS

18" x 9.5" wheel
225 tire width
+ 45 offset
adding a 1.5" spacer

i know they make 30 mm & 38 mm spacers for 5x114.3

not sure why someone would want to use it

I forget how big the spacer is in the front, just going off what the seller said. Reguardless the fronts fit fine. Only thing im worried about is clearence on the shock.. whether is true style or oem.

I already bought them.. from a guy on here. He had them on a z as well. But he had 255 stretched on them, i plan on 295s. Im just really curious about the rears hiting the coilovers. Wheels are already on the car, will make them fit the rear with some camber and rolling

Oh so you know they will fit
cool

measure how much clearance you have now

295 - 255 = 40 mm

so you need roughly 1" clearance inner , 1 " outer

if you have that now , they will work

Sorry i didn't include enough info!

OK, this is ALL OVER THE MAP!

"225 on a 9.5"... "30+mm spacers"... "18x12 -2"...

I surely hope this build is intended for a "low n' slow" cuz this is a recipe for disaster at high speeds. Sorry, OP.

The minimum size tire (for safety AND performance reasons) on a 9.5/241mm wide wheel is 235, and better/optimally, a 245 or 255.

Secondly, 30+mm spacers do two things, neither good: It stresses your wheel bearings badly and secondly, in another thread, I mentioned "the sitting frog look" with tires all the way out with NO TREAD inside to back up the "aggressive/flush/poke" that's going on on the outside. That just looks silly, IMO. But the more important aspect is the stress on equipment with all that unsprung weight sitting that far outboard.

And for the 4th or 5th time I've said this this week alone: spacers have a place in the modder's tool chest but within reason, maybe 15-20mm MAX. Even that much puts undue stress on bearings.

Finally, how in the world will foot wide, negative offset wheels fit under the fenders without CUTTING and flaring the fenders? I mean, when you do the math, that set up will stick 79mm beyond stock 8.5" wide wheel (just as a sane point of reference). 3.1 inches....

I must stress that this post is not out of disrespect at all so please don't take it that way. But from a logical point of view, there's too many things wrong with this that I could not sit idly by without saying something.

Work out the math beforehand. This is well beyond, "will coilovers clear?" As a matter of fact, with spacers of the size you're talking about, they'll be a foot away from any suspension components! (Exaggeration but you get the point...)

I Feel like no one is really understanding what im asking. Im not concerned with the front specs at all. All im asking is about the rears. no spacer will be on the rear of the car. Just the 18x12 at -2 and yes it will fit, i will be rolling the fender. Have plenty of pictures from 3 owners with these same wheels that fit with no cutting. I really just want to know if i true coilover set up in the rear is possible or do i need to stick with a OEM set up.

Dont worry no disrespect taken! the fronts are a different story that may be changed and have 235s on them i was mistaken

Hey buddy. Your wheels will not rub on anything suspension related. Based on the tire size you're shooting for, you'll be fine there.

HOOOWWWWWWWEEEEEEVVVVVERRRRRRRRRRR....

Prepare yourself for fender work. THAT'S where you're going to run into issue. If you're planning on going really low, you will need to PULL your fenders. If you don't want to do fender work, then you will need custom rear camber arms to achieve -11 degrees. If you don't drive low, you will be choloflush.

Here:

So, you don't have to be slammed, obviously, but you see how high I was and it looked all 4x4 mud truckerish.

And my coils were ...ok, I looked for a gif of someone saying "true", but even 2 chainz, who FAMOUSLY said true, when debating Nancy Grace, disappointed. so, my coils were true. Boringly boringly true

FYI, because of this comment I panicked and called Fortune Auto about to cancel my order because i thought it was OEM only. They actually offer true now (since October 2015).
