Default outer tie rods problem help!!

hey guys so a while back in my school we tried to do an alignment on my 06 350z. turns out the outer tie rods were broken and about a week ago i bought the tie rods(both outers). today i decided to put them on. first i jacked the car up and remove the tire. next i looked at the tie rods and they were def broken so first i counted the threads and put tape to mark my spot. next i grabbed some vise grips to hold the inner down. next i removed the cotter pin and removed the crown nut. i also loosened the end nut up to the tape. the tie rod came right off and i put the new one on. i did the same for the other side but it was harder because after i removed the crown nut the tie rod didn't want to fall off the bushing and so i hit it with a hammer to get it down.

nows here the problem:
i put the tires back on and as i back out of my driveway i feel the steering wheel jerking or wanting to move on its own. i thought it was normal at first then i drove about 30ft to a cul-de-sac and the steering wheel moves on its own and theres lot of play. the tires look like there out of air but there not and it smells like burning rubber from it. WHAT DID I DO WRONG?? WAS THERE A CERTAIN TORQUE SPEC FOR THE CROWN NUT WHEN PUTTING BACK ON AND THE END NUT?? WILL AN ALIGNMENT FIX ALL THESE PROBLEMS?? PLEASE HELP

You need an alignment.

The new parts aren't necessarily dimensionally identical to the old. Get an alignment.

Alright thank you guys and will the alignment fix the moving on its own steering wheel? And should have I torqued the crown nut and the end nut to anything specific?

If your unsure of your work check to make sure everythings tight then take it to the alignment shop. If the new parts are different in dimension than the OEM even by a few hundredths of an inch your steering will be out of whack.

The alignment shop will necessarily have to loosen and re-tighten the nuts, anyway.
