Brake Caliper Color for LS - Suggestions
I am having a hard time visualizing what color would look best for a big brake kit on the lemans sunset. I am quivering between red and silver. I thought about black but want the calipers to be seen not hiding in there. Anyone have any suggestions or even better some pictures of either combo? The only pic I have seen is the Performance Nissan car, but with all those graphics on there and the bronze rims, I can't make any conclusions from it.
ahhh, yea thats a tough one. personally i would really stay away from the red. i think it would clash with the LS. Silver would definelty be a better choice if you didnt want to go with black.
My vote is silver calipers (stoptech of course
) with a two piece wheel...black centers, and a polished lip. That would look absolutely wicked...and very rare. I have yet to see that combo on a LS.

I agree with everyone that you should stay away from red, but why limit yourself to just silver? StopTech can paint their calipers any color you want for an additional $200 per axle according to their current catalog.
Good luck with your decision, and let us know what you decide.

That's R.J. De Vera's Z in the pic. We have more pics of it in our customer car gallery. That's actually the car I had in mind when I made my recommendation above. I think with the darker black centers, it would set the silver off even more, and not blend as much. I think the red would clash a bit.
As for custom colors...the $200 extra / axle is for yellow or blue. We don't do complete custom colors unless you want to private label a kit and have us make a dozen kits in that color. Silver, red, or black are all the same price.

I agree that you should stay away from Reds. I have not seen Red calipers on the LS, but I HAD red center caps on my wheels originally. Got them off ASAP. I don't think the red works on the LS.

Not that it matters; that picture with the silvers in this thread looks HOT!
Hey,
This is Jason from JVD Graphics and I specialize in brake caliper stickers, and so I obviously have some experience when it comes to painted calipers lol. I would suggest black due to just how classy it is, but if you want to stay away from that then do the silver as shown in the picture, which is very agressive looking. Good luck!

OK, you guys don't know what your talking about with red on LS. It looks good IMO. I like the Gold Brembo color too but that's usually not offered. I was planning on painting my stocks Gold.
I really like the silver. Works well with the doorhandles and the other accents of the same color, like another poster had pointed out before.
Painted calipers should be a good accent to the car; I'm not a big fan of cars where the first thing you notice is "wow those are painted calipers"... know what I mean? Subtle = good.

I've had the same dilema with my LS and the only option I've concidered were silver as seen above with black lettering (looks great but silver calipers will show hella brakedust...and require constant cleaning. (same with white, which I think would look good)......so I'm going with either Charcoal gray and polished lettering or Black with polished or white lettering.
LeMans Sunset is tricky to accent with other colors. Take wheels for example, the only ones I've scene that look decent are the variations of silver/polished......gunmetal, black, and bronze don't seem right on the car at all. To me anyways.

red really doesnt look bad...its kinda universal...you want my honest opinion...when i painted mine red i liked em..but when i saw my dad driving the car the red brakes look kinda PUNY when they arent big brakes....but then again i wouldnt spend 1700 just cause i felt like a color change...and i dont track my car
but if you paint them...silver is not worth the time...paint them red

GaryM05,
You are misunderstanding what you are reading. On page 4 it states, "Anodized calipers may be painted any color for an additional $200 per axle set." Some of our kits, like the WRX for example, come with a black anodized caliper, not a painted caliper. This was done to lower cost for the end-users in certain markets. These kits can be ordered painted instead, for the extra $200. That's what the note means.
Maybe it should read,"For kits that come standard with an anodized caliper finish, painted calipers of any color can be substituted for an additional $200." Thanks for pointing that out!

Its funny, I have actually been pondering the same question myself.
My S2000 is being painted Imola Orange right now which is pretty close to the LS. I really think what color your wheels are also is important. In my case, Im going to be running a gunmetal CE28. Personally, I think the silver would be the cleanest choice. I decided to go a little loud and paint them to match the car, orange. Hopefully I ll have pics soon. Post pics with whatever you decide, I luv to see them.

Hi- personal opinion is I like to match the color to the body color. But, try to make it slightly brighter and glossy, or it will not show well due to the shading. Also, experience has shown that unless it is gloss finish, the dirt quickly wipes out the color and makes it dingy looking even if you wash the calipers. Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Good luck.
