Question Q: Tirerack and Alignment

Noob Question:

When purchasing tires online, how does the chosen local installer know what alignment settings to use?

And in your opinion, would they use the factory alignment settings, or new settings found in the TSBs?

Thoughts?

-Thanks

new tires do not have any effect on your alignment.... put them onthe wheels, bolt them onto the car and go have fun

if you just want an alignment, then by all means get an alignment

If your new wheels offsets are much different from stock, you should get an alignment and should probably get one anyways. A good shop will have the correct specs. I just finally got around to aligning the G after 4000 miles from lowering it, and the rear toe was out pretty far on the rt side. (Looking at the stock tires from before lowering, it came this way from the factory, and was exaggerated by the lowering). THe inside of my rear tires are shot after only 4000 miles.

I would recommend everyone get a pre-emptive alignment. Its under $100 and well worth the piece of mind. When I got my Z aligned right after I bought it and put its first set of new shoes on, the factory alignment was also way out of spec.

Here is the before/after from the G
