Default *PICS* new wheels / suspension : how low can I safely drop my car ??

I've had my TEIN Flex on my car for about 2 months and just got my HRE 19s on my car today. I haven't lowered my car yet becuase I don't know how low I can drop it and be safe on not rubbing.

Here are my specs:
TEIN Flex w/EDFC
Front = HRE 546R 19 x 9.5 / Toyo 245/35
Rear = HRE 546R 19 x 10.5 / Toyo 275/35

Pics:
-Front

-Rear

I want to drop my car all the way to the top of the tires, but I don't know if it's safe or not. I have an appointment with my local shop to bring my car in for them to drop and align it for me (i don't wanna take a chance on my own with this setup just yet)

Can someone give me any advice on how far I can drop with it NOT RUBBING it so I can let the shop know tommorow?

you can probably drop it a bunch..

you have an advanatage with the tein's. if it's too low just raise it up.

also whe you look at the tires are they right at the fender?

An inch or more drop in the rear (with 10.5" rims) will rub. You may need (read: will need) to bend the fender flange back a little. Not a big deal.

If anything just drop it and drive around for a bit. Take some hard corners and find a road with some nice dips. If it rubs then just take it back and have it raised up a bit. Rubbing once or twice shouldn't hurt it that bad.

Not knowing the exact offset of your custom built wheels it would be hard to say. I'd suggest that you give the guys at HRE a call & see what they have to say.

Nice rims Webiteks. Speedform is right- w/ 10.5 you will definitely need to roll your fenders in the rear if you plan on lowering. I dropped mine so you can fit one finger between the tire and fender and I don't have any problems scraping (speed bumps or driveways). I'm running 8.5F, 9.5R and didn't need to roll my fenders but have a few friend running the same set up as you and they all had to roll.

SWEET wheels, yeah I would suggest the adjust and drive route and see how low you can go and decide if you need to roll the fenders

You guys act like you know everything about HREs. There are plenty of 10.5s that fit AND can take an aggresive lowering.

If he bought HREs then they were most likely custom made for him.

If this is the case, then they would not have been sold them to him without someone mentioning to him that his car cant be lowered.

Webiteks, lower your car unil the nuts on your M brace hit pavement, you dont have to worry about the wheels or your wells

how do you know that? not all 10.5s are created equal. you dont know the offset, lip or anything.

Default Here are the details.. . .

Well, I did it. . I have 19 x 10.5 in rear and 19 x 9.5 in front. . . lowered both front and rear, and it doesn't rub or cause problems which would involve fender work such as rolling, shaving, etc. .

I didn't measure out how low my drop was overall in front and back, but I do know it was over an inch.

I even have room to spare where I can go lower, but if I did I wouldn't be able to get up in my driveway without scraping. This is a safe setting for me being a daily driver and the angle of my driveway :-)

Thank you! I'm so tempted to go lower because I have the room, but I would scrap everywhere in my city :-\

Man- the more I look at your rims the more I like them- How much did those set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

More than a Greddy TT :-)

They're huge rims too. I wouldn't go with anything less on the Z.

You're tellin me. HRE is a very soft wheel, so I will have to be watching everything in the road now :-) Not that I didn't before or anything, haha

I never claimed to be an expert, but I have spent enough time on this forum to know many people have dropped 10.5 width rears without issues.
I never claim to 'know it all' because I hate it when people claim things absolutely like
An inch or more drop in the rear (with 10.5" rims) will rub. You may need (read: will need) to bend the fender flange back a little. Not a big deal
.
It irritates me to know that someone is spreading misinformation. It causes problems for anyone. WHos the know it all?

Thanks for the pics Webiteks. I am pitching a tent.
