I would def agree for competition uses.
FYI Cusco dampers are all made by Showa - certainly no stranger to competition appearance, especially in the realm of motorcycle racing
Don't get me started on JRZ - made that mistake once already ...never again

Z1, what problems did you have with JRZ?
I had them on my BMW racecar, never had any issues. I had a prototype set that didnt have all the features their later sets had and they retrofited everything for me a no charge and didnt even charge me for the shipping to/from Europe. They told me it would take a month and it was done in 3 weeks.
I have a new set on order for the 350Z, first set they are building for 350Z and they are giving me a screaming deal in exchange for stickers on the racecar.
Curious to know what problems you had...

No disrespect to those Japanese companies but it is like comparing the 350Z to a Ferrari 360. Both are great cars, but the 360 has more technology and is better all around (and you pay for that).
I think in GYZ's case, it sounds like it is a street driven car, and he will be happy regardless of if he uses Cusco, Tein or Ohlins etc. I think for a serious Track Day car or Racecar, no question Ohlins, JRZ, Moton or Penske are going to be superior to Tein, Cusco, HKS etc.

Why did they need rebuilt? JRZ recommends rebuilding them at least once every season, depending upon the number of races you do, so not really out of the ordinary... They are definately lightyears ahead of the Bilsteins, I went from the Bilsteins to the JRZ's on my M3, what a difference...
Who drove your car, never heard of you guys and I know most everyone running Speed WC (and have raced against a few of them too).

not sure eactly what went wrong with them, but I know they went on the car midway through last season, and crapped out 2 times..I think the new car (E46) has Moton on it, but I'd have to go look.
Car is driven by Phil Parlatto....most of the events are the east coast ones for economic reasons.

GYZ, the Ohlins on the S2000 are not exactly the same, but looking at pictures between the S2000 and 350Z setup, they look close, shock bodies look similar etc. I am sure the shock valving and spring rates are different between both cars

I work for Z1 - we are a performance shop, not a dealership. Phil has been a good friend for years. In fact we now run his old ITS BMW ourselves, and just one the first race of our season last weekend (headed up to Pocono for round 2 as we speak!). His new car is an E46, and the main sponsor is now Electromotive, which we set up for him - I forget if he kept the JRZ or switched (I know we talked about it, but forget if he did it or not), but I know he had issues with the JRZ's last year.

want to bring this thread back on.
i have talke to Ohlins, and they said they are getting more and more inquires about dampers for them. Their only hold up at the moment is they need to make clevis pieces to mount to the suspension.sounds like some good news, thought i'd share.
