These are the first pics of our new caliper shown outside of StopTech. The caliper is called the ST-22. It is a 2 piston opposed, billet caliper that will be used on the rear of a number of applications. The 350Z will be the first application. A couple of points to note about the caliper...it weighs about 5 lbs, vs. 8 lbs for our ST-40. It does not have a bolt in bridge to shave off some weight. If you look at the structure of the caliper, you'll see that the 'box' area that holds the pads is much smaller and squarer than on the ST-40 or other longer calipers. This allowed my engineers to do away with the bridge and still retain extraordinary stiffness. Probably the biggest innovation on this caliper is the shape. It is designd with a large amount of the bottom of the caliper (plane closest to the hub) cut away. This was designed to allow the caliper to sit further down on the mounting brackets and allow for more wheel clearance...a shape that has never been done before.

Obviously, this is not the finished product. It's basically fresh off of the machines with a few bits thrown on...all of the parts aren't even on it yet, and the pistons aren't bored out yet. In the latter pictures it is sitting next to our ST-40 (what's on the front of the Z), and a stock non-Track model 350Z Front caliper...just to give you an idea about how big it is (it makes the stock Z equipment look like a lump of coal ). For the Z, it will be mated to a 328x28mm rear rotor. It will be on my car within a couple of weeks. I'll post pics when it's on. Enjoy.

Oh how I have waited for this day. I want those two piece rotors. I also want to remove the "Brembo" from my calipers and replace it with "Hand of God".

Awesome pics. The 3 caliper comparison shot, is that a stock front caliper on the far right?

man... makes me wish I'd bought a Performance model just so I could put the Stoptech 13" 4-wheel kit... J Ritt.. the rear caliper looks awesome... very nice...

Anyway... I won't buy the full brake kit (Brembos aren't Stoptechs, but they do all right...), but I will buy the 2-piece Aerorotors... thanks for listening to us!

Cheers,

PeteH

Jeff, any answer to my question? (yes, I'm being pesky):

how much do each of these rotors weigh? Anyone know the weight of the OE Brembo rotors?

How about a pic of the two-piece rotor on the car?

John,
Sorry, I hope you weren't feeling neglected, and no you're not being pesky. It's hard to give an exact weight on the AeroRotors because the iron discs that are being run on the hats right now are not the ones that will ship with the production version. That said, a ballpark figure is roughly 2 lbs. per corner will be saved in front, and about 4 lbs per corner will be saved in the rear...total of 12 or so lbs.

I can't provide any pics at this time. Sorry. If you look at our AeroRotors that ship with our big brake kits, these will look the same, only stock Z sized.

I'm not sure this question has been asked before.
Why ST22 caliper is from billet, while ST40 is forged?
Is ST22 just special or all stoptech caliper will move to billet eventually? Just curious...

There are a number of reasons why the ST-22 will be billet, none of which I'm going to go into here. It is the appropriate method to produce these calipers at this time...that's the reason.

All StopTech calipers will not be billet in the future. Some will, some will not.

Are the Track replacement rotors drilled, slotted, or both?

We will offer both drilled or slotted most likely. Again, this means drilled OR slotted. We never offer a rotor that is both drilled and slotted.
