Default S-Tune suspension not covered under warranty???

I went to the dealer for my scheduled appointment for the most recent front tire roar/ alignment TSB dated 12APR. They said that it would be honored, but at my expense because "the S-tune parts were not installed on the vehicle at the time of sale by the dealership". I called NNA about this and they are working on getting me an answer. This sounds like bulls**t to me. Why bother buying NISMO S-tune parts if they don't honor the warranties anyway? I could have A LOT more HP and performance with other brands, but I wanted to play the mod game safe and buy NISMO S-Tune..........anyone have any suggestions?

Your dealer is dead wrong. Take it somewhere else.

Look in the Repairs forum for a TSB and copy of the notice sent to 03 owners. The notice states that Nismo S-tune parts including the LMGT4 wheels with proper size are covered. In most warranty cases Nismo S-tune parts do not need to be installed by the dealer continue the manufacture warranty and Nismo 3yrs/36000mi parts warranty. Installing at the dealer provides an additional warranty on labor.

I believe the warranty on alignment (tire feathering) requires installation by a Nissan dealer because replacing suspension parts will cause the car to go out of alignment. Why would Nissan warranty someone else alignment? And if you installed the suspension without alignment it is your fault.

shortcut3d,
I have already notified NNA and they are researching the issue. about the alignment, I had the vehicle aligned per NISMO specs that came with the suspension just hours after installation.

I took the vehicle in for the feathering TSB because I have already had the wheels cross rotated and alignment done, etc..... My problem is that this is an ongoing issue regarding the feathering issue, regardless of who performs the alignment. My dealer doesn't even do their own alignments, first they were using a nearby tire shop and now use their neighboring dealer. What I am getting at is that my tires are being eaten up, I have a suspension that is supposed to keep my Nissan/ NISMO warranty, which is not being honored, and the dealer will not honor the TSB because they did not sell the suspension themselves?

I would understand that if I had never come into the dealer before with tire wear problems and then suddenly come in with feathered tires and a new suspension saying "hey guys, my tires are wearing funny, please fix the problem and give me new tires". That is not the case here. We'll see what happens with NNA

Default Am I hearig you correctly?

You have the S-Tune suspension and still have the cupping problem? According to a very reputable tire expert in my area, cupping on the inside edge is a problem with dampening, not alignment. I was hoping that the S-Tune suspension would solve the problem. Everyone else I've talked to about it say the s-tune is worth its weight in gold...

The suspension is relatively new on the vehicle, not on long enough to cause the cupping issue. But now that I have the new suspension, the dealer will not address any previous damage done prior to the installation of the new suspension. So no, the cupping is not related to the S-Tune suspension, damage already done.....but dealer won't fix!!

scubasteve, i did not mean any insult. i apologize.

i am on your side. the nismo suspension is covered under the warranty the way you described your install conditions. keep on NNA and you will get your tires.

i just had my dealer install the S-tune suspension, sways and exhaust. Wow what a difference. the car seems to ride much better. there is less road noise (how could suspension affect this I do not know) and the car handles rough roads much better. i have an 04 so there was no bounce, but i had feathering. everything is taken care of on my car. i love NISSAN, I LOVE MY Z.

I hope so, spoke with some lady that was very helpful. I explained to her that I have spend lots of $$$ and could have purchased ANY other part, but chose NISMO because of the warranty issue. We'll see what happens.

who did you purchase your S-Tune from...

once again...

Do not expect to purchase a S-Tune suspension from someone who is not an authorized NISSAN dealer and expect to have it covered under warranty... At time of purchase the dealer will submit your VIN number to NNA... When we sell NISMO S-Tune suspension we can not ship it without a VIN number from the customer...

Packages (usually the ones that are alot cheeper then what we sell, we sell the suspension at minimum price) are the ones that are NOT official NISMO S-Tune US Products...

it does NOT matter who installs an S-Tune product... it DOES matter if your VIN is submitted at time of purchase of the S-Tune...

wanna drive down to duarte ca 91010

I AM driving down there. I did have to submit my VIN# when I purchased the suspension. Actually, I think you even recommended the dealer for me, which was a big help. It was the guy from Arizona, and he said that he had to submit the vin#'s to Nissan. I think you were also telling me about watching for the grey market suspensions that look EXACTLY like NISMO....so I paid the extra $ for peace of mind.

Really, I don't know how much better I would be off if I were to go down there, other than to get my tranny issue addressed and have a new flywheel and clutch put in and possibly the NISMO rear end installed with the vented diff cover. Other than that, I don't know why I would go to Duarte . You guys at Performance are great and I will be aloyal customer as long as I own any Nissan. I even purchased partd for my XTerra from you guys!

Thanks again, and I will keep posted of what NNA says about this issue.

well...if you have a genuine nismo s-tune suspension there should be no problems...

the "grey market" nismo suspensions are imported from japan and not purchased though the NISSAN Parts system...

now they are physically marked and vin has to be submitted...

I see a PM from you... will be replying shortly

I heard back from NNA today and they said that they mailed my a denial of warranty coverage letter. Apparently, if we purchase NISMO S-Tune parts, we should not really expect any coverage as claimed. My patience with this car and Nissan is growing short. I am doing everything I can to keep the car, but it's VERY tempting to get out from underneath the constant problems. I think my last resort is to go to Performance, which I had planned anyway.

Well, I just got off the phone with several Nissan dealerships (courtesyparts.com included) and all of them claim that the VIN number is not an issue and does not need to be submitted.

Second, they all agree that Nismo S-tune parts do not affect any warranty or claim.

I would write down a list of Nissan dealers that sell Nismo parts for the 350 phone numbers and bring it with you to your dealer. Call them or have your dealer call them and explain why you are not covered under warranty.

My friend is here from NNA and I will speak to him directly on this issue. I want to know if we have been lied to and pay a premium for Nismo warranty that does not exist.

WOW!!! This is really turning my stomach with Nissan. I was hesitant to purchase Nismo products, despite the claims of warranty, and sure enough, people are having trouble.

I would think that an enterprising attorney would somehow get a class action lawsuit going against Nissan. Clearly, they advertised that Nismo S-tune products would be fully covered by warranty. Since they are now stating the OPPOSITE, I'd think they'd be in a heap of legal trouble. It's called FRAUD and DEALING IN BAD FAITH, which have fairly severe legal penalties from what I recall.

Any attorneys here want to make some $$$?
