the latest alignment specs
What I really like:
"Front tires cupped and feathering excessively,
completed alignment and replaced front two tires because of
excessive wear - completed ntb04-043"
ok, so the tires were feathering, they fixed it and they stand behind their product. See, here is the guarantee:
"12 months or 12,000 miles which ever occurs first on nissan parts and labor, damage or abuse affecting these repairs voids this waranty."
So... my mind is thinking... Per the previous, if my tires feather again within 1 year or 12,000 miles then it is still covered under this guarantee. Since this is x3 within 2 years, I think this will work out nicely.

Heckyl,
The alignment for front toe is supposed to be between 0.00 and 0.08. They set yours to .23 and .22 for a total of .46. This is way out. That is 4 tenths of an inch total toe. Your tires are going to wear excessively with that much toe. I would take it back and show them the error.

Z ship, you are confusing degrees and inches. The spec is between .00 and .08 inches, I don't know what that translates into degrees, but they are not the same measure. It could be within spec.
Personally, I have #153 off the line and have never had a problem with feathering.

just got back from the dealer.
they basically told me that the sheet was correct. that they aligned my car to the specs provided to them by nissan recently. when i mentioned my concern about the recent tsb stating that there should be no toe, they replied that you cant trust everything you read in the tsb and assured me my car was aligned to the new specs provided to them by nissan.
i should of asked to see the specs.
next time.
problem with this: i read the tsb again and it deffinantly states 0.00 toe is the way to go.
nota problem with this: if the alignment sheet IS correct, then my car has 0.00 toe to begin with and it was eating tires every 7K miles. at least some change has been made.

any dealers or nissan employees wanna step in and offer an explination maybe?
why is the car aligned out of the specs on the paper. why was my car already aligned to the specs on the paper ( and had 0 toe per the new tsb ) and eating tires?
no matter how i look at the who/what/when/where/why/wtfs, i keep coming back to this: my car was eating tires at the settings it was on, the settings are different. this is at least some kind of change, be it good or bad -- dunno. but its better than no change at all.

these kinds of issues are meant for us do it yourself'ers on a forum to discuss.
if it goes bad within the next year, keep taking it back until they get it right!
let them worry about it.
