Unhappy Problem with Hawk HPS pads

I recently installed the HPS pads in my 6MT (Brembo), and they were fine for a week or so, but now my front brakes are making "clacking" noises. Almost like a bag of bolts are in the front fender well. It seems that after the pads got worned alittle, they got loose enough to either hit the caliper or rotor, making a clacking noise whenever the road gets bumpy, which is often. I am just curious if anyone else encounter this problem. Did using the old shims help any? They are the correct pads by the way.

Thanks

Out of curiosity, how did you guys remove the old shims from the pads? It seems to me that if you ply them off, they will bend. Or did you, or can you, purchase new shims from the dealer??

Mine popped right off. Flat head screw driver and a little prying and they didn't bend.

I don't know if you can buy new shims, but check with CourtesyParts.com or PerformanceNissan.com (these guys are AWESOME at helping out their customers)--one of those two should be able to help you out.

You sure is not from the rear calipers? I got my right rear caliper replaced under warranty because of the annoying rattling noise.

I'm pretty sure the clacking noise is from the front driver side. The sound is pretty distinct. The pads are new, and the rotors are new as well. The noise is just bothering the hell out of me. It just doesn't sound very healthy!! I'm going to have to take it apart and see if I can see anything.

Just in case anyone is interested!! I found the problem. The problem wasn't the hawk pads afterall. The noise started to get louded and louded. A quick inspection reviewed that my front coilover, middle bolt to be exact, was loose and almost off. Retightened, and the noise went away!!
