Default What a reasonable amount over invoice?

I am probably going to be ordering a 2005 Track Z this weekend, and was hoping to get some insight on a good price. I have an offer of $500.00 over actual invoice from a local dealer. How much better have others done on an '05 Track? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I ordered my '05 Track for $500 over Invoice. I thought that was fair, especially considering it was a new model.

Hi Wits

There's a website like Kelly blue book that will give you invoice prices and average selling prices for car buyers Can't think of the website off hand thou. Maybe some of the members might know. 500 over invoice doesn't sound bad. You could see what the MSRP prices are at Nissan USA.com on the track and it's options, then find out what the invoice prices are to see where you stand out the door!

$500 over invoice w/o haggling is a great deal IMHO... Just make sure they give you a fair deal on the trade in

The sales of Z's has been on a decline so $500 over invoice is reasonable and realistic. Probably wouldn't pay more than that. If you catch a dealership when they're desperate, you might be able to get invoice since it costs money to leave a car on a lot for a long period of time. Good luck!

yea I think I could have saved up to $1000 on my car too knowing what I do now. I guess I can tell myself I will do better next time with a potentially more expensive car which will make this lesson very valuable.

I just picked up a 2005 GT Roadster for $200 over invoice, and no extra fees. This car only became available in Jan. Make sure you call several Nissan dealers, and tell them you want the best price...I started the day at 750 over...I ended up at 200 over, and bought the car. Just keep calling them back and saying..."Can you beat this price?"

I could have had invoice, but had already given my word to the dealership at 200 over...plus the guy offering invoice would have added a ton of junk fees.

This "Drive to a Million" sales event really has the dealers dealing They WANT to sell you a car to get their numbers up.

Goodluck!

Default Thanks a lot..

Thanks a lot for your thoughts guys.. I'm going to call around to a few places to see if I can move them down any more, especially since I'm ordering and there are no holding costs for the vehicle, no sales expenses and no risk for the dealer.. I had just contacted the local dealer who appeared to maintain the highest volume of Zs figuring with their volume they would be willing to forego more profit on the sale of one vehicle.

Anyway, thanks again for the input..

Ben

Sales are down for the Z in the past couple of months, so getting them to a more reasonable amount really shouldn't be difficult.

Good luck.

I don't know about on a Track, but I had a guy right at invoice on an '05 Enthusiast. I decided I wanted a Performance because of the VDC and since there were only 3 in the entire region, I took it at $600 over invoice.

The thing to watch out for is that they'll give you the car at invoice, but load it up at options at MSRP.

Default limited availability was the story I got too..

The dealer indicated he could only locate one track model in silverstone on the whole east coast, and still was around $500 over invoice.. The deal breaker on that was that the vehicle was somewhere down toward Florida, and I am in PA. They said they would send a driver down to pick it up.. They weren't even going to flatbed it, and I wasn't willing to get the vehicle with hundreds of miles on it, with those hundreds of miles be a joyride for some stranger..

Anyway, now that I'm just going to order it, I'm hopeful I can move the price down a bit, but I'm not going to sweat $500.00 over dealer invoice on the track, because that certainly sounds like its fair based on other's experiences..

Is this $500 over invoice "Out The Door" price. I'm buying a Z also and I'm trying to get the best deal possible, I have four dealers fighting for my business. I'm looking for a performancce or enthusiast.

I am out of town but I have my dealer on a verbal agreement for:

'05 5AT 350Z Roadster Enthusiast - SilverStone
Base Options + Below:
Side Airbags
Floor Mats
Aluminum Kick Plates
Cargo Mat
Splash Guard
Out-The-Door Price: $36,300

The dealer fee is $499, the other fees come to $22.50, tag is $200, taxes are $2,040.50, and selling price of $33,538.

He tells me the invoice is $32,693. (Without above options) I have not verified this. I calculated the MSRP on the Nissan website for the exact car above at: 36,560.

With the above info you can compare your deal to mine. If any of you think I can do better let me know, I think the deal is looking pretty good right now.

Mine didn't try any trickery. They showed me the invoice price of the car and accessories and added it up.

One has nothing to do with the other. $500 over Invoice means your getting the car itself for $500 over what the dealer paid for the car. OTD price is the added cost of tax, tags, and licensing fees.

For example, with floor mats, trunk mats, and the Z kickplates, the Z costs $32313 for me. At $500 over Invoice, it will cost me $32813. After TTL, it will be just under $36k.

I hope this helps.
