Default Realistic offer

Spoke with a dealer yesterday about an 04 Z with 10,000 miles. I could'nt tell
from the picture (Autotrader)whether it is a Base or an Enthusiast (it has 17" wheels) and the salesman seemed to have no idea. He just kept telling me how beautiful and mint it was. He is asking $24,000 for it and said it was an Internet price. He claims it is Kelly Blue book value. What should I give for an offer assuming that I like the car. I am new to this used car negotiating process. It seems that the Dealers are marking even the used cars up by at least a couple k from what I have seen at dealers and the Internet. I am looking for a used Black Z with under 30,000 miles for $20,000 or under.
Is this realistic?

Thanks for any help

If it is base, I would offer 21,000. 22,000 for enthusiest. I would use those prices as a good starting point. I doubt they would take those offers, but its something to start with. Its up to you as to how much you're willing to spend.

I know that $20,000 would be low for this particular car. I was just wondering if I might find something (03-04) for between 18 and 20K and low mileage or is this unrealistic.

Thanks

I've been patiently searcing for a Z too and a lot of 03 touring Z's fully loaded with navigation and about 30k miles are listing on autotrader for about 23k in the DC area...they've been going really quick though as when I go look at them and try to haggle a little I call back a couple days later and they're sold.

I have the same question as the original poster. I've found an 04 Z enthusiast model and the dealer has been having problems selling it. It's listed on autotrader for 23.8k i think and I called about it a month ago and they were firm on the price and would not budge. Well the car still hasn't sold which isn't suprising since touring or fully loaded models are going for that much. Is 21.5k out the door reasonable to offer them?

Yes. I believe it is unrealistic.
