I'm basically calling the dealer every 2 weeks for an update and all they can tell me is that 'it is ordered'. I want it! Now!
My dealer told me that Nissan would send me the VIN in the mail before the car is shipped to the U.S. I'm guessing it takes about 4-6 weeks to ship it over from Japan so my car must not even be built yet.

I got the one I wanted on the dot. No point in paying for the dealers nav. at $2600. Also helps that I know the owner. Only 19 year old in town to 1.) drive a Z ...and 2.) have an 06. Haha...

Actually, your dealer should be able to give you the production number not VIN number. Once I placed the order, my dealer contact Nissan Japan and Nissan Japan will give production number, production time for the car, and ETA. I received the production number around two weeks after I placed the order.

Thanks fishanan. I left a message for the salesman today - Bets on how long it takes him to call me back?

I know a production number won't make the car get here faster, but, at least he'll be doing something for the $2000 deposit they cashed.

My dealer just asked for $500 deposit and they did not even cash it.

Surprisingly, the salesman called me back today. He was able to provide the 'order number', order date, production month (Nov), and eta. He's checking to see if 'production number' is differerent than order number.

Their only ETA is 'Jan'..and he says that they typically over-estimate that. so hopefully some time this month. I'm so anxious..any useful/positive information is good information to me.

Hopefully sooner than later. Like I said, I ordered mine Nov. 7, and I was told Mid-Jan. at the latest (that would make it a total of 10 weeks). I don't think it takes any longer than two weeks for the car to be put on a boat and shipped over.

well it depends where they can get the car from.. i was told that if i went to the dealer early in the day they could have the car at the dealership at night same day.. for the car i wanted, other maybe take a lil bit longer but it all depends where the car is located.

if they can get it from other dealerships then it would take long but if its coming from japan then of course it will take longer...

Walked into the dealership on 12/22 and drove home in it on 12/24. Two days wait time and got exactly what i wanted 06 Grand Touring. kicker was, they threw in a Nismo cold air kit cause it took them two days to get it!

OMG. Sorry to hear that man. I don't want to rub it in, but, I just picked mine up today. Ordered mid-Oct.. received 1/25/06. 90 days+ wait time. and I'm glad they forgot the splash guards.

I'll do a write up in New Owners as soon as I get decent daylight pics.

Congrats. Post pics. I do not want to wait another 90 days. I'll see if I can find one this weekend.
