Default Quick customer question

I posted on the buying section, but wanted some quick opinions. I emailed about a UY 05 AT Enthusiast at Moore Nissan in St. Louis. The msrp shown on the website is 31,760. He sends me an email back "My system shows a total list price of $32,950" , and offers me 28,950. Ive seen 2005 Tourings for 29,500. But anyway, I email him back and asked why the price is different and he replies, "At the dealership, we add the Moore Value Package. This gives you your first 2yrs. or 24,000 miles worth of oil changes, first day rental for service trips, trip interruption (these first three options are a contract we add from Chrysler. It is good at any Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer in the US), paint sealant, fabric guard, airbag bolts and wheel locks. They add this package so they can advertise bigger discounts. That is a pretty common thing here in St. Louis and we are participating in this form of advertising but we are also giving you something other than “market adjustment.”

What would I say to that and is that a common "package" on cars?

I was hoping to find a 05 enth for around 27k is that too low?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've never heard of that package but I live in CA. It almost sounds like it's trying to do the BMW thing of free oil changes except for only 24,000 miles and other services. Maybe someone in St. Louis area can answer your question in more detail.

As for 27k, is that OTD? I purchased my Performance with 18miles on it for 30K OTD if that gives you any reference. It came with all options except leather and navi of course. Included was mats, cargo, splash guards, Lo-jack, side, head airbag, special chrome 18" aftermarket rims that I changed immediately and some other stuff.

That [Insert name of dealer] Value Package is quite common, and usually a rip off. I'd tell them you're not interested in it, ask for a price without it, and don't let them con you into thinking they're doing you a huge favor later in the negotiations by not ripping you off with it.

every dealer in america adds something to the sticker value. Mine was for Pinstripes, wheel locks, door guards and custom wax. Well it was a z so they didn't put door guards on or pinstripes and the custom wax is BS and i am fairly sure the wheel locks come on the car from the factory. It is just a way to add more money. They way to go is to get their best price and then subtract that extra money out but still take all the services. Why would you pay extra for oil changes? the BMW program is free. Last thing I want to do is pay up front for 2 years of oil changes at dealership prices, no thanks.
