Z_2_B: Also, another thing to think about.

Since the tire problem was "corrected" in the 05-06 model, it doesn't handle as well as the 03-04. So if you want a stock Z that handles, get the earlier models. Some suspension upgrades to the newer models will do just fine as well.

The Z has horriable rear views so you won't see cops coming unless hes right on your ass.

If you corner balance your Z, it will probably handle as well as the M3 or M5.

lets talk about the difference between the 03-04 and the 05up. The older models that say they have 287 is a modest figure. I dynoed my car stock and it came up 298rwhp. the car had 24000 mls when this was done. Now, from what I have been told, the new models from 05 anniv. and 06 have 300hp but the curve on the dyno is different. The torque is lower which means that it's still the same car just tweeked to have more hp. More hp doesn't always mean faster. And different HP may give you a faster 1/8th mile but slower top end and / or slower 1/8th mile but faster top end. Now which one do you want?

There is no way your car bone stock dyno'd at 298rwhp. Maybe 298 at the crank, but not the wheels. 298rwhp is more like 360-370hp at the crank. Maybe you had some mods you didn't know about? (if you bought it used)

I agree, 298 does seem alot but it would be nice However you're right about the Hp/tq difference which is why for performance wise, I prefer the earlier models.

Also I wouldn't get the Touring model. (I have one) I'd settle for a performance or Enthusiast. The Bose system is sorry! Heated seats are nice but I think i could live with out it. 18 stocks are that nice. If you plan on modding then get the Performance or Enthusiast. They are just as nice.

ummm...
what i think about the Z is you can drive as as a daily driver
unlike the s2000 (which was what i was supposed to get)
the brakes are not the greatest compared with the s2000s (mainly because s2k is lighter aka less stress on brakes)
the handling isnt as crisp as the s2000s (the z is heavier, packs more hp, more tq, the s2k is world class sublime handling )
but there is a decent sized trunk...
the stock ride isnt harsh like s2k
and you get a roof (i rather not have the metal roof but ok)

Hi I am looking into either getting a Z convert or S2k, and since you brought up the subject....

What is better over all the Z or the S2k? I am seriously stuck on the two, I had an '03 S2k and things happened to where I had to sell it, so I do know the handling is awesome. But I also was looking into the Z and I really am confused, there are good and bad to both cars.

Please HELP!

Thanks!

Both are great cars and you can't go wrong either way. I went with the Z becuase at the time it was a fresher design and it looked sexier.

Thanks for the quick response! I am kinda leaning towards the Z just because it seems more roomie then the S2k. But I would have to test drive it in order to see the drive difference. Has anybody here test drove both and have an opinion?

I am still reading. I am thinking then I should either go for an 03 that has its problems taken care of and documented, or get an 04. Either way I should get the sports model is that correct? Is the sport model the same as the performance model? Basically I would like the heated leather seats and better stereo system. I do want the rear lip spoiler, and I like the clean look of the enthusiast model, but a the lip spoiler I can always put on. I really want it in white. I am getting more excited about it everyday. I spoke to my local Nissan dealer again, and I told them as soon as they get one I am coming for a test drive. I hope it doesnt dissappoint. I really need something for the Spring

Thanks for the info. I'll get the rest of my answers somewhere else and maybe when I get one I will post pics of it. If not, I will just buy the Esprit I wanted. and post pics.
Bad idea insulting a forum regular when he didn't provoke you in the least (he tried to help if you weren't paying attention). Dial down the drama a bit...when you come into a car forum brand new asking questions like that; you can't fly off the handle if people don't trip over themselves trying to kiss your ***. Heh, it really doesn't sound like you're in the market for one

WAY, WAY, WAY!!!!! And it surprised me too when the guy before me had full exhaust system and intake, wheels and ground effects, got on the dyno before me and got a 245rwhp. Then I pull my car on there and got 298rwhp. I have the printout to prove it. And When I told them the car was stock they demanded to go through it. They found nothing. Oh, I bought the car new. I do good making the payments, much less add mods to it. Check with me in a year and a half when it's paid for.

Good, I was begining to think that all these advices were going to waste.
In the 03-4 theres the base, enth, touring, performance and track. When you're saying "sports" you mean track?

Heres what you have to ask yourself, what is the purpose of your Z?

If you want to do alot of modding, than either get the base, track or performance that way you're not gonna pay for things that you will end up replacing (mostly interior)

If you like it like it is and just enjoying the car, you might want to get the higher end cause it has more comforts.

Also, if you're really into music, don't get the upgraded bose version since those sucks as well as the stock radio. You will eventually replace the stock radio/speakers.

The white (Pikes Peak White=PPW) is a great choice. I'm currently in the market for one to go with my gold GT-C. PPW are HARD to find. Good luck and enjoy the test drive.

Interesting...Could it be the dyno is the problem? Dynos vary from shop to shop. Try getting it dyno some where else and tell us what you get.

It was a mustang dyno in lebanon TN. But that is a good idea to try another dyno somewhere else. Thanks for help. There is no close dyno in KY. I may have to go to Nashville TN. (closest)

Bamyi, thank you for all the information. I do apologize coming like an A**hole. I dont know what got into me, I am really not like that. I spoke to my Nissan dealer and just from seeking through Autotrader and other calssified sites it seems I can probably get an 05 if need be. To answer your question in terms of what I want out of the Z, well, I want it to have leather seats, really it doesnt matter if they are heated but this will be my first real sports car (I've had 3 5.0 Mustangs in the past along with a nissan Sentra SE (not SE-R) and a Mazda 626 ES so on and so forth, but nothing as elegant and beautiful as the 350Z.

See, this is my whole agenda. I want something elegant, gentleman, adult looking, nice and richy looking but not in a snob way, and the 350 looks the part both in and out. BUT, I also want something FAST. I dont like other cars like the EVO (though it is nasty quick) and I certainly do not want another Mustang. Though they are fun and cheap to mod they are slow to me. They have alot of initial oomph but really you press the gas and go nowhere unless you launch the f'ing thing. I like the G35 ALOT, especially in white with tints and the outer lip of the rims polished, but I want a sports car. Something I am not goingt to drive everyday, something for the same reason I will open my garage and see a beautiful but hot car. This way i wnt get bored of it either. Anyway I am rambling about a silly day dream of this car.

Bottom line, I am hoping it is fast to satisfy my taste. when I press the throttle I am out. When I downshift to 4th (or 5th?, this will be my first 6 speed) on the highway to pass cars I will hear a nasty rumbling and I am a mile ahead of them.

I suppose I could always do an intake and a chip for the car, because I do not want to spend a ton of money on mods, nor do I want to make it to a ricer. I want i to be elegant but has *****. Like usher says, I want a lady on the street but a freak in the bed.

Also, I cant find any good pic so fit in white, can anyone assist me with this? I have went to the gallery but it doesnt load for me for some reason.

And lastly, what are the major differences, and does anyone have pics to show as I am not there yet where I can just look and see immediate differences from the 04 to the 06?

See, I am working on a dial up right now, so it sucks and takes forever to hunt for pics on the nxt.
Paul

Heres a direct link to the PPW gallery: https://my350z.com/forum/350z-colors/28373-pikes-peak-white.html
Hope it loads for you.

Sounds like the perfect trim for you would be the touring. If you want fast, you can turbos or supercharger. These mods are definately not rice. But if thats too much, listed below are some fairly inexpensive mods that can increase in power and/or torque.

1. Plenum spacers or replace the entire pelnum.
2. Cold Air Intake (CAI)
3. Final Drive 3.9

Personally, the best bang for the buck will be the Plenums and CAI.

The differences between 05 and 06 are as follows:

Headlights, tail lights, rims, interior gauges. Obviously, the dead give away is the head lights and the led tail lights.
