Question Z or EVO

So i am stressing myself out because i can't decide which one to get. I figure that asking on here is my best bet. After looking around on here i don't think i have seen anyone openly say that the are not happy with their car. I would love input on this. Thanks in advance.

Both are awesome cars but hard to compare. I used to have an 03 VIII and loved it. Very fast and awesome gains w/ small mods. But the drivetrain is weak. I replaced the clutch at 20k miles and the front diff at 30k miles, amoung other stuff. I think they have built them a liuttle stronger but I still wouldn't want the worry like I did all the time.
Here is the quick comparo I did write up after trading the Evo in for the Z: https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/154338-350z-evo-comparo.html

ive had both. test drive each one and get the one u like.

if u plan on modding the car at all and getting power from it, get the evo.

if u like more room in your car and having a back seat, evo

if u want a car that everyone "thinks" looks better get the z.

if u want a car that holds its value better, get the evo.

if u want a reliable car that u never need to worry about, dont get either.

well the Z doesnt hold much value
if you see how much the owners are willing to let go of their cars...
You see 03s in the below 20000 and sometimes plenty below 20000
... in private sales...
thats ridiculous... losing 10000 or 33 %in just 2 full years?

i traded my 03 touring with stick that was 34500 retail in last march with 32000 miles for 22000. that hurt bad. they initially wanted to give me 19000 for it...ouch! barely more than 60% of the original value after only 2 1/2 yrs. yes i did trade in, but private party value was only 24k. i got most of that 2k back in the tax break from my tradein value 7%x22k=1540

No new car should lose 60% of its value after 2 years.

last i looked an 03 touring goes for just under 20k now. so 4 years out and its worth just a little more than 50% of original value.

reasons for depreciation

-over supply, they made waaayy to many
-newer models more desirable, who wants the 287 vs rev-up, and everyone wants the vert top
-earlier models got unfavorable ratings on reliability
-seasonal adjustments, sells better in the summer
-new competition in the market, new mustangs are hot now, as is the honda market and g35 in the same class. the z isnt the it thing anymore.

I love the Z...it's the first car I've had that I truly enjoy everything about.

But, with that said, this coming year I might have to move someplace where it will snow regularly. I can't stomach driving a winter beater and garaging the Z for months at a time so if that situation comes up...I will be taking a hard look at the EVO. I'm both sad and excited about that.

i am more than aware which state i am in. I was so set on an evo. Then... Some things came up and i am moving to texas. So no the Z has once again entered my thoughts. I have a bad feeling that no matter what i get i will want the other one not too long after that.

Sounds like me.. i went from an Acura TSX to 350z.. now i like the IS350.. but the Z is a definite keeper, i love it too much to let go of.
