Arrow 03 Track Deal

I found an 03 Track with Navigation for 26K. It has 18K miles on it. Seem like a good deal? I know about the 03 issues. Did the 03 Track have Bose and leather heated seats standard? Anyone have carfax that would be willing to do a report for me? VIN: JN1AZ34E53T017951

Thanks.

They didn't make GTs in 03. Tracks have cloth seats. Tourings had leather and Bose. I think a price close to $24K would be better. For $26K you can get an 06 Base model with a full warranty on it and choose your color.

Look at the brake calipers, if there not big gold brembos it's not a track.

Isn't there a link on this forum that explains the differences between model years? Thought I saw one before but can't find it on a search.

It's got the cloth and the brembo's. Did they come with the RAYS rims? How can you tell? Looks like side air bags also.

Yep, Rays rims. The Track has the gold calipers, front and rear spoilers, underbody diffusers, and cloth seats.

No, those aren't Rays. Does it have the spoilers and the switch for VDC? This guy may have just put some calipers on his Enthusiast model and jacked up the price.

If it's a performance model, though, he won't be able to tell. Look for the rear underbody diffusers that only the Track model came with. You'll prob have to go to a dealer and look at another model to see what it looks like without them, then compare. They are small, plastic pieces that cover the holes otyherwise left at the corners of the rear bumper behind the rear wheels. It COULD be a Track that the guy sold his Rays rims and upgraded to aftermarket, then sold them and picked up a cheap set of 18s to trade it in on. It should also have cloth seats and base (NOT Bose) stereo, VDC switch, rear spoiler and front chin spoiler (little plastic deal underneath). Nav WAS an option on the Track model in '03.

At any rate, I'd say that price is a couple thousand too high.

I cant tell from the pics if it has the underbody diffusers or the front spoiler. I will have to go check it out. Just concerned that the guy switched out the Rays, maybe due to tire feathering??

Can't tell. It'll either say TCS (enthusiast model) or VDC (performance or Track model). As I said above, the only way you'll be able to tell between performance with upgraded brakes and Track with downgraded wheels is by looking for the rear underbody diffusers.

However, even those could be added after the fact. Still, I'd say it's more likely that it IS a Track that the guy just sold the rims of of, rather than someone that went through the effort and $$ to get a hold of a set of the Track's Brembos to add on, but anything is possible. I guess the best thing to do would be take the VIN to a dealer and have them look it up and tell you what model it is (not sure if Carfax will specify).

If it is a Track, you're getting ripped by it not having the Rays rims.

Feathering has nothing to do with the rims; it's in the suspension and alignment. I have an '03 Track and have had no feathering issues at all. He prob just sold off the rims for some $$ and put cheaper ones on to sell it to carmax b/c they don't care about that stuff.

Yes, those are the rims that were exclusive to Track models, along with the Brembos.

And for those confused, the Grand Touring (GT) model was not available until '05, along with the 35th anniversary model, both of which had Brembos, leather and Bose (basically a touring/track rolled into one without the Rays rims). The Rays wheels were still exclusive to the Track model.

I know, but I was wondering if they the tires were worn out due to the feathering and he just switched the full wheels instead of just the tires. Anyway, it does suck by not getting the RAYS but maybe I can convince them to drop the price because of this.

Thanks for everyones help. It's either this or the 06 enthusiast. The NAV, brakes, and some of the extras are pushing me on this one though.

BTW, what is the purpose of the underbody diffusers? Maybe that will help me tell what to look for.

The underbody diffusers are supposed to direct the wind under the car and reduce drag. Who knows how functional they actually are? Most Track owners have lost them over the years with changing the exhaust and such. Even with the Rays, I say it isn't worth more than $24K out-the-door. If it is indeed the Track model, I would say no more than $23K out the door with those wheels. The 03s are supposed ot be the most raw performers out there but most of us just drive cars to work and home. Unless you work at a Track as the instructor, a little comfort is welcomed. You can get a new Enth model for near $28-29K OTD. Which you should get is up to you. I know the warranty for the car is almost finished so at least try to get them ot extend the warranty for you if you go with the older one.
