Default Questions from a Prospective Buyer

After doing some reading I see that the main problems with buying a used Z would be transmission problems (primarily 3rd and 5th gear grinds) and tire feathering. I'm not worried about the tire feathering as that can be fixed with a different set of tires and a good alignment.

However the transmission problems scare me a little. I understand that Nissan is now on the 9th version of this particular transmission.

- Is there any way to tell which version a particular car has beore buying?

It seems it's most prevalent on the 03's, or is that untrue. Are the 04's and 05's just as problematic?

Also, aside from the general things to look for when buying any used car, should I be aware of something else that I haven't already read about?

Thanks

The newer the car..the less likely you will have problems. There are plenty of Z owners with older cars such as the 03 who have had little or no problems. Just do a through background check of the car before you purchase.
