can I find a new 2006 Z Base bellow 25K
Now that the 2007 model is close. I wonder if I could make a good deal on a 2006 model. Is this a wrong thought? I emailed all dealers in 100 miles around for good prices for Base and Enthusiast models. The best I have right now is just bellow $27K. Somehow I don't feel this is a good deal. I wouldn't mind to drive further to get a really amazing deal. How low should I ask and be reasonable?
I would love your thoughts on this.

I would just stick it out for 8-10 weeks and buy an 07 base or get an 06 on clearance.

But "Doc Fee, Dealer Prep", etc, is NOT.

Actually you should be able to pick one up in the high 24 range if you work on it. Invoice is not what the dealer pays or what they have to charge to break even. Manufactures give dealers incentives, dealer hold back, flooring assistance, advertising allowance and so on. The general hold back on a Nissan is 2% of MSRP. I am waiting for and 07, but a friend of mine just picked up an 06 base for 24995. We are in Central Florida, there is actually a Dealer ship advertising new base ones for 25,860 on Autotrader. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=152

Best time to conduct the query is last Tuesday of the month.
Dealer invoice plus holdback = $25,145 (this does not include the $605 destination charge or DMV fees)
Look to pay slightly more than this unless you find a dealer willing to take a small loss in hopes they will recoupe it via future maintenance, etc.
I got mine for $25,200 with free synthetic oil changes for life but it is all about timing and diligence.

MSRP (from NissanUSA.com) is $27,650 NOT including the delivery fee of $615(though I think my dev. fee was $605), for a total price of $28,265. Add TTL, and you are looking at another $2,000-$4,000 depending on where you live.
You should be able to get almost any dealer to bite for $27,000 with little to no problem. bailey bill already posted the invoice: $25,860. $26,000-$27,000 is a good deal, and well below MSRP. Don't expect $25,000.
There are too many other people willing to buy, and the dealers know it. When I bought mine, a guy with his buddy were not only looking at MY car, but they had the audacity to take it for a test drive! Thye were in there trying to work a deal, and the guy finally left because of the negative equity on his 04 'Stang GT.

I was looking at new 2006 base Z's and they wouldn't do better than 26,900. I think it was $400 over invoice. He said normally they do $1000 over invoice but since they were a little slow if I'd take it that day they'd do $400 over invoice. I can't remember what the price was but it was exactly $29,100 out the door.

I got my 2005 Base new (purchased Dec. 2004) for exactly $25,000. The dealer knocked $1,000 off of the original $26K asking price.
Seems like the Base Model $ increased for 2006 though.
I'd wait until December (toward the end of the month), since MOST people don't buy sportscars or convertibles then and work out a deal.
