Default Please Help - Why buy a 350Z?

Hey Buddies, just a member as of 5 minutes ago. Give me a hand.

I am the proad owner of a really hot Lexus IS300. Ihave had it for years and think it is great. I woudl like to add a 350Z to the garage and want to know your opinions on what type of 2004 350Z to buy.

I am getting a 2004 model because I like buying used cars with 30 - 50k miles on them, just a bit of warranty left over and all the major depreciation payed for by someone else.

Help me out with the following questions:

#1) I am thinking the Track Pack is the only way to go? Is this correct? Are the Brembo brakes that much better? Does the Brembo brakes come with different discs or is it just the calipers? What else does a Track Pack represent?

#2) My Lexus is rock solid quality, it ablsolutely never needs anything at all. What shoudl I expect from a 350Z.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out. I will reciprocate with many high quality posts since I am a skilled auto craftsman and an avid contributor to forums like these.

Steve

the track model's brembos are huge compared to the stock z's. anyhting that says brembo is better than stock. i believe the rotors are bigger on the brembos too, cant remember. also the track has 19''s on it. the base etc. dont have 19's either 17 or 18.

being an 04 check to see if it has had any tranny problems before you buy it. the only recall on that model was the fuel hoses. everything else was tsb's. like axle clicking, etc. for the most part the z is a fun car, just read up on the forum a little and you will find the answers you seek.

i have a 04 and enjoy every minute driving it. mine is a touring model. the track model is fun, the rays forged wheels and bremboso yeah

if your getting a used Z then u MUST get the track or grand touring... there is no other option!@

or you can consider a hot new 06 Track... you can probably get a SUPER good deal since all nissan lots are trying to get rid of the 06 for the new 07!

Hi. Welcome to my350Z.com. We have a great search feature. You should try it.

But to get you started, I will correct an earlier post by saying that in '04 the Track model DID NOT come with 19s.

trims on 04 are, base, enthu, perf, touring, track. Touring being the fully equipped model, without brembo & rays eng. wheels, it's also the only one with luxury option ( leather, heated seat). Forget Brembo brake if you gonna go after market, although the stock is pretty good already. Also, it's somehow happen to be the fastest of all the trim...check on the forum, they said that the fastest Zs are the Touring model.

Brembo's are good, but a stock Z will stop with in a foot of a track. Now after repeated stops the stock braking distance will begin to grow much quicker. It only takes soo much clamping force to lock a wheel up, the brembo's mass will reduce fade from repeated stops.

The forged wheels on the track are lighter, but if you're going to go to aftermarket wheels that doesn't matter much.

03's to 04 have tire feathering and tranny problems... try getting an 04.5 if you really insist on getting a 2004 model...(2006 is better imo...excluding the sporadic oil consumption problems.........)

This is a hard question to answer. Everybody has different expectations. If you want a car that is solid and well balanced ( ie. weight, power, handling) the the Z is for you. However, there is always room for improvement if you catch the mod bug ( which you will).

As far as trim levels, I went with the touring. Coming from a bimmer, I wanted leather seats w/ bun warmers for winter driving. BBK can always be added later. my.02

I think just the ratio of price, amazing looks, feeling driving it, power, awesome handling and grip, dependablity as a nissan, possible engine/exhaust/intake sound and modding, and the z car history speak for itsself. And to think, I was raised by a GM person.. GASP!
