Default Found a Z at Carmax.......

Has anyone had any experience buying a car from carmax or a similiar place? The no haggle thing seems pretty cool even though i'm pretty good at haggling. I'm interested to hear if anyone has any bad/good experiences. I'm worried about warranty and if they check the vehicles well or not for mechanical defects.

um, theyll ask you elevntymillions questions about the history of your trade, but wont tell you the transmission in the car your buying was replaced 200 miles ago (even though they were aware)

other then that, the customer service isnt too bad. I enjoyed the purchase, the test drive. They kinda low ball you on your trade too, bastards.

You only think you're good at haggling. If you don't think you will buy your next car new, I would buy from Carmax. There are good benefits if you buy from the same Carmax twice in a row.

carmax sucks ***. Got my 01 Honda accord coupe from them (28k miles) started to brake down at around (35kmile). Got tired of trying to fix it up and than traded it in for a Z but not at carmax. I also went back to carmax to sell my accord back to them and they said they would only give me 6500 for it when i bought it for 19000....i said "why so low" they said, "the tranny is going bad"..........

Ok well i'm not trading anything first off so i don't have to worry about that. I found a track model 2004 with 38k miles on it. Keep the stories coming good or bad. I didn't ask them but i wonder if they would let me bring it to a independent mechanic for a diagnosis.

You haven't mentioned the price, but I've always found them to be a little pricey. But I must admit, their cars are def good quality. So I'd say, go ahead if your willing to pay a little premium - for the quality and peace of mind. (They are not the 'around-the-corner' dealership and will be there to answer ur Qs in the future.)

They buy all there cars from an Auction and sell at KBB Retail or sometimes higher. The no haggle thing is a bit gimmicky if you ask me. I would stick with a Nissan dealership and find a nice one that has been traded in.

I bought mine used in February last year from a Nissan dealership and they gave a great deal because the weather was cold and 350Z sales were slow. Their internet price was already great and we then haggled some more. Plus the Nissan warranty is pretty good.

I get excellent service from the service dept as well since I bought the car from them and they know the car. Just my

bobS, I saw Passport Auto was having a decent sale on their leftover 06's. I saw they had a base for around $24K. Their website is passportauto.com

Thanks for the heads up 91ZCpe, i was looking for a nice track b/c i like the brembos but i guess i would settle for a enthusiast to. I could always add a big brake kit. I'm trying to stay away from the 06's b/c i like the v1 lip and it won't fit on the new bumper.
MichaelJR6 i don't think your comparing a new track (GT) to the one i'm looking at. IT would be more than a few thousand.
I don't think this price is to bad at carmax but i'll shop around.

My friend worked at Carmax and yes they do buy their cars at auctions but they run 100+ inspections before they are approved to go onto the sales lot. Other cars they have were sold to them. They dont sell anything over 10 years old and nothing with more than 110,000 miles. The cars they dont allow have minor body damage or mods.

I have never heard of any complaints about them and i would definately buy a car from Carmax.
