X2.

I love how people equate the dealership making money with the salesman making money.

I come before the dealership.

dont you salesguys make a salary anyway?
the extra stuff is just commission right?
dont you guys get bonus's?

My last mazda i bought for 200 bucks over invoice.
this Z i bought for a couple hundred bucks UNDER invoice.
they still made money and im sure the sales person still got an incentive (and a salary)

No.
No, commission is how I make my money.
Yes, but my March bonus doesn't last all year.

You keep thinking that.

100% comission, $200 bonus at 8 cars before the 15th of the month, $200 bonus at 12 cars, $600 bonus at 14 cars....now, how many cars do you think an average salesman sells a month? 12-14...AVERAGE.. I Sell around 16...

so lets say 16 cars at $34 assuming they were all MINIs = $544+$200+$600, WOW!!! I JUST MADE $1344!!! thats enough to pay my rent....that's assuming I didnt sell 8 cars before the 15th, because I'm a slow starter...anyways $200 more even if i did...that's my comcast bill right there...I gotta eat somehow and drive to work and use a cell phone to talk to my customers, since I'm so nice I actually give out my cell phone to people I sell cars to, yet people don't understand that, they think we make thousands of dollars of each sale

No need to be dishonest.

I've flat out told people we are making money on the car, but they have to pay me, pay to keep the lights, etc. It's a business.

Actually, I just parted ways with them. Either going to upgrade dealerships (to Sewell or Park Place, somewhere like that), or go back to teaching.

Here in Dallas, the Lexus market is HUGE. So, that sounds good to me.

BTW, how does that management position compare, money-wise, to selling cars? Just wondering.

It's tough...Park Place has a better starting pay program, and is closer to my house.

But Sewell offers demo's.

Sigh. Decisions.

BTW, what was the price on the 460? Sticker or some off?

$93K....paid the sticker, since we had to order it. It's very high in demand currently

Yeah, I figured.

Some guy last month was trying to tell me PP discounted an LS460 by $7K for him.

I had to excuse myself to giggle.

lol, maybe he purchased a used one?

Usually when purchasing a car from a luxury dealership, is negotiating on the price common? I just can't see Tom Cruise walking into a Lambo dealership and asking them to take 5K off or something like that.

No, it was new. His argument was that if Lexus can take $7K off his 460, why couldn't I take more off the Tahoe.

And no, especially not on a car like that. I mean, did you try and negotiate, or was it just here's the car, here's the price...?

Now imagine an even more rare and limited car. I know that F430's can go for as much as $100K over sticker, just because of the scarcity.

Lol @ the guy saying that Lexus taking 7K off their new flagship car.....

Usually when a person goes up to a dealership like BMW/Merc/Lexus, the salesman already know the customer has $$$. I'm wondering if it's possible for them to knock off a couple thousand (2-3K). or is it going to be more challenging?

Depends on the model.

ES330, yeah.

GX470, not so much.

LS460, not at all.
