05 base for $17,500??
hey guys,
i'm a noob, but have been reading the boards for a couple months and looking for a Z to buy.
Just wondering if you guys think this is a safe purchase....'05 base model with 36,000 miles for $17,500. I think it may have a potential problem...its someone on the board selling and i looked at his past posts and he mentioned a humming/buzzing noise from possibly the differential. I have yet to check out the car, but i got him down to $17,500 (asking $19,000) . Do you guys think this is worth it even with the potential problem?? will the warranty cover it if it so happens something is wrong with the differential/tranny?
i'm speculating on why he's willing to let it go for so cheap...???
also, how does the waranty thing work? do i have to get some kind of special paper signed transferring the warranty on the car to my name or is it a given that when i take the car to the dealership the car is still under warranty??
thanks for the help ahead of time. -Anthony

i just bought an 05 enth for $20k with 31k miles on it M/T. I think that much for a base would be a steal.
the car's original warranty is transfered without you having to do anything. Problems with the car may or may not be covered under warranty. If the guy did something to the car to cause the problem then they will not fix it (there are tell tale signs). They only fix manufacturer defects.
So far i have found this car to be expensive. Sounds like a dumb statement, but you are trying to save 2k for an unsure ride, are you thinking of the car as expensive? If something is wrong and you have to repair it, do you have that money?
wait a min....isnt warranty up at 35k? i know mine is, got an extended warranty, that takes some effort to get transfered.

yes, i would have the money to repair it if need be....but i have set my budget for a vehicle at $20,000 because i am also looking to buy a condo, so any money i save on the car will help with the down payment on the property.
do you think that a DIY oil change on the differential would void the warranty? in his ad, he states a "recent oil change to engine/tranny/diff.".
thanx, -Anthony
