Default 2007 Z vs 2008 Z = same price?

My dealership has 2007 and 2008 350z's but they still marked up the 2007 Z by 2000 dollars ABOVE MSRP.

what the heck? who would pay 29 grand for a base 2007 350z when you can get a 2008 enthusiast for the same price? Help me out here?

no options on the base either except window tint.

btw, what is this end of year deal nissan is having? it wont tell me on their website, it says to email my dealership who told me not much is happening when i went there today -_-

When money flow is good, a dealership can wait around for a uninformed customer.

i was about to purchase an 07 for 26,488 but I went to another dealer with an 08 on the lot and paid 26,400.

i told them beat it or i'll leave. took 15mins to seal the deal. drove off with the car in an hour. they had to peel the plastics off the car and such.

Tell me about it. The best deal that I have found is a 07 enth for 29k with 3k miles. Even base models in fl are going for almost 29K otd. I hate reading on here how guys are getting new 07 enth for 28k otd.

I guess since there isnt a difference between the Model years they arent in as big a hurry to get rid of the old ones. THo marking up the 07 above the 08 is kinda strange...

Dealers are free to ask whatever they want. That's the “S” in MSRP.

There are a dozen great buying threads in the buying forum. If you are asking prices, you are uninformed.

Today, rebates actually went backwards on the 2007s. There was $500, but now there is not. They retained $1000 if you lease or finance the car with NMAC.

You're better off with an 08.

gixxerk3 may have meant $27,400 and transposed the 4 and the 7.

However, if we assume that the $24,700 reflects the total price of a 2007 base model (including sales tax, registration, and any other fees), that leaves us with the price of the car at roughly $23,375.

$23,375 07 350Z base
$1,169 5% Massachusetts sales tax
---------------------------------------
$24,544
$150 Registration and/or other fees (just a guess)
-----------------------------------------------------
$24,694 OTD

Now, the sticker price on a 2007 base was $29,040 (assuming it has mud guards, floor mats, trunk mat, aluminum kick plates, and cargo convenience package). The overwhelming majority of 2007 base models were shipped to dealsers so equipped. The price without these options was $28,525.

I'm not sure a dealership would have sold this particular model (either with or without options) at more than $5,000 below sticker price, even with a factory rebate, if there were one at the time. The 2007 model was released in January; there may not have been a rebate so soon after its introduction.

Let's get some pricing breakdowns on this forum so we can eliminate all variables associated with what people said they paid for their Zs.

Lease vs. Buying, thats how he got the super, ultra low price. You won't be able to BUY a 30K car for 27K out the door, as the dealership will take a tremendous loss.

Yeah, FastZ33 is leasing, so the OTD price means nothing. gixxerk3 may be leasing as well, but his post doesn't indicate that. Maybe gixxerk3 will shed some light on this situation for us.
