Default lease

The best deal i have gotten so far (only been to two dealerships) is $370 a month. Terms are 07 base model, 39 month lease, 12,000 miles a year, $4,000down, perfect credit. Should i keep looking or is this what you guys are paying for your lease. I called two more dealerships to get price quotes and they told me they will call me back in 15 min and it has been over an hour now. If anything i want to get an 08 for that price if i cant get the price lower. Im willing to go for an 07 if there is a price difference between them and the 07 is cheaper.

That's pretty good, I wouldn't say they are cheating you at all.

So its going to cost $18,430 to rent a 350Z, and after 39 months you give it back and have nothing?

Lease on the 350Z is never very good; this is about the best you will see. The offer you have been given is about what I have on my store's website in an attempt to do an under-invoice blow out my last 2007; so the dealership seems to be doing everything on their end.

I know lease is not the best option but i really like the car and was looking at it ever since it came out in 2003. i dont want to buy a used one as we (my parents or I) ever bought a used car. If i buy i would only be able to put around $7,000 down and monthly payment would be high. Right now lease is MY best option to drive the 350z.

Your 60 month purchase payments should be about $400-$425 with 7k down. With taxes in NY, you are at $400 anyways with your lease structure.

Run an amortization (sp?) table and see which works out better. I'm thinking purchase, but I am not 100% sure.

Purchase for sure. Buy a used one. There is a first time for everything.

There's nothing wrong with a lease as long as you are disciplined enough to stay in the car for the term.

Sure you don't have a car at the end of the term, but you also don't have any negative equity or out of warranty issues, or anything like that.

My wife is on a lease. It works out fine, especially if you want a new car every 2 or 3 years.

well as far as without a car i have an accord now that i own and am not selling it. The z will be mostly to have fun in and ill just use the accord in the rain and snow or anytime i dont want to use the z. But yea i started doing calculations and i am looking into financing it also. Another thing i like with finance is if you lose a job or something happens you can sell it and pay off the car where in a lease you are stuck with it.

If it's a toy car, absolutely lease it.

And you can sell a lease, you'll just take a hit.

i got my 07 lease for 390/month with 2k down but that's on a 63 month lease, your deal don't sound too bad for a 36 month lease...I leased with intent to buy it out at the end though and will owe just over 10k at the end, and with how the 03's are still selling for 15k+ i would get some cash back even if i bought it just to sell it if i was ready for something different by then, at least i would make some of the money back off of the lease.

And if he buys the Z, what do you think he will have at the end of 39 mos?

Assume a purchse price of $28000.

IF he can get an 84 mo loan (7%) his payment will be ~ $422, or about $50 more than the lease payment.

And at the end of 39 mos, he will still owe ~$16,700.

And guess what the estimated trade-in value is for a 3 year old base Z...about $16,700.

So if he decides to buy, he pays $50 a month more ($1950) and still has zero equity.

Sounds like a deal to me

I would agree I got a used base 04.5 for like 350 a month for 3 yrs with 5 down. The car only had 32K miles.

I would buy used and not lease. You can pick up a used 350z for under 20k with low miles. You are in NY and I'm in Boston I see them all the time on cars.com under 20k with less than 40k there are a couple of 06's on there for 19k easy, all day long. Buy now with the snow the price is lower. You could always get a Nissan extended warrenty for 1800 or so Ithink this would be were you wan to go and with the $$ you have to out down your payments would be less than the lease.

I though this thread was dead by now but since i never updated it i will now since people are still posting. I bought a 2008 base carbon silver. I financed it. 7.0% for 72 months and its $320 a month. Most likely i will pay it off in september when money becomes available when my CD runs out.

I am very glad you bought the car rather than leased it.
