Those effing stealerships....

I called them up this morning and the guy confirmed that the price was listed at 18,795 so I told him i would like to plan on driving down (about a 5 hour drive). he told me he wanted to make sure some of the details were accurate and would call me back, and lo and behold he did. "uh, the car is no longer for sale, and it was a typo. kthankxbye.

typical.

I know it did sound too good to be true, but I was hoping that the reason wasn't for a typo.

No, I would say that is still high. Look a little harder, that car was 27-28k new. People that try to sell their cars here generally ask 15-30% too much, that is why you always see bumps. The resale market for mass produced sports cars is always soft because only a select demographic can live with such a purchase.

It's hard because I'm picky. It has to be leather, 6spd, silverstone or gray. I've been looking for probably 4-5 months now. I'll take your advice and maybe try to bargain something, thank you.

Oh, you can still go.

Bring an aluminum bat, ask for "ron" and kindly take about 1,000 swings at his knees for me.

If you are "picky" (poor choice of words...better to use "particular") then I would suggest looking outside of your distance (say you are searching for cars within 100 miles of your zip. look outside that area and you might find one.

I am doing just that and I found one that is priced ok, but not terrific.

2005 Nissan 350Z Touring - $22,988

grey, 6sp, leather interior.

That's VERY low mileage for an '03, I'd say it's a decent deal. Make sure it's had all of it's recalls done though...and haggle it down a few grand

at least you didn't drive 5hrs to dealer and find out it was typo.
some dealer just make people come in when they don't even have what customer looking for..

I can see that it was a typo, but its still listed on cars.com and on their own website at that price.

I imagine that many other people beside myself have called or showed interest in this car. Typo or not, they are getting people to call them or visit them by this "mistake".

Sweet find, Steve. I thought winter would be the time to buy since so many ppl would realize it's not an ideal car at all and want to sell it cheap. I've found no "cheap" Z's, other than those with mods and high miles.

That is why you see so many Z's sit, the sellers are delusional on what their car is really worth.

When you see 1-2 year old base models and 03-04's in the mid 20's you know the seller has no clue to what the actual value of his car is.
