Default Purchasing my first 350z

I am interested in purchasing my first 350z and I have found a '04 Touring model with apprx 22K miles, owner wants $20,500 for the car. Car drives very well and I am very impressed with the handling, acceleration, and braking. Trans reminds me of the bmws where shifts feel notching and I love the short shift pattern.

This particular car looks pretty good but it could use a good detailing. The only blems I have found are scrapes/scratches on two rims from rubbing against curbs, and a quarter-size dent near the front edge of hood. Not sure if the dent can be removed by paintless method but it appears that paint, maybe just clearcoat is scratched. There are also some minor chips along front edge of hood.

I don't think the owner can go down on price and from shopping around it looks like the value of the cars on the market is quite high.

Do you think this would be a good buy? Any suggestions or recommendations?
Doesn't appear to have any damage and report came back clean.

Thanks,John

22,000 miles the car is hardly broken in. Offer $20,125.

Have a mechanic check it out for you.

Thanks ladyzed! I went ahead and subscribed to carfax last night and report came back clean. I checked a few other cars from autotrader that were priced very competitively and sure enough, reports on a few cars came back with accident damage.

David, I will probably pester owner and see if they will budge on price a little more. Original asking price was $21,000, owner said that loan payoff is 20,500 and if they dont sell it they would probably keep the car a while longer. So I doubt that they will come down on price but I will try.

Brickyard rat, I do most all of my own wrenching. Just sold my '01 F150 with 204K and it was never in a shop since day I took delivery of it from dealer. Just bought a new one last month! I looked under the car but it sits so low it was hard to see much of anything, but I didn't notice any wet spots. I would like to put it up on a lift tho, and look it over.

No need to pester the seller. Just pull $20,125 out of your pocket. I say that the Z will be yours.
