Default Deal seems to good to be true

First of all I should say hi. I have been reading this form for a long time now but didnt see the need to post... until now.

Just got a quote on a New 2007 Daytona Blue touring roadster with automatic and Navigation. An MSRP of 41,810.00. They gave me a price of 35,820 + tax and tags.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this. It seems almost to low to be true. Invoice on a touring roadster is 35,051. Add auto and nav and your up to almost $38,000 for invoice.

Thanks guys and I look forward to becoming more active in this forum!

Eh, if you're happy with the price and want it, do it.

Welcome. You were sitting face-to-face with a dealer and told 35,820? Why did you reject the offer?

If YOU think it's too low, then it ISN'T! Remember, the dealer gets all sorts of financial help from Nissan, so even if they sell it to you for a "song", they are still making a profit. I got my 2007 touring for a little less than that in VA, and that was back in June. If they are still trying to get rid of 07s, then you should get a deal.

I was not sitting face to face with the dealer. He gave me the quote over the phone and I told him b/c I am at work, I would get back to him by the end of the day.

I think this car is awesome so I think I am going to go for it. I am getting tired of dealing with car salesmen. Almost got scammed by a dealer on saturday trying to sell me a used Z by giving me an incorrect vehicle history report. Thank god I decided to run my own report.

Thank you all and I appreciate your help!

Well the invoice is higher for an auto than a manual. The value to the community here might be lower but the retail is higher.

With dealer incentives and the need to get 2007s off the lot its not too good to be true.

*Keep in mind you cant get db on the 2008s so if thats your color you should go for it*

You sure you want an automatic transmission? You may regret that decision down the road. Just a thought.

i would say thats up to you, as another poster said.

but........he's knocking $6,000 off the sticker. considering that there is a $2,000 rebate on 07 models, considering Nissan has to be anxious to get the 2007 models sold, considering there's a recession looming, considering a 2007 model depreciates big time the moment you drive it off the lot, etc, etc, i think i would mention all of those points to the dealer and make a counter offer of around $33,000.

have you dickered back and forth with him yet? my uncle was a car salesman, and he told me dealers always expect the buyer to come up with reasons why thats not a good price, and then they counter-offer, etc, etc. its all a game.

bottom line its your $$$, if you are satisfied with it, go for it. but it wont hurt to try.

Mike

and... I decided to go for it and picked it up a couple weeks ago. This was before they offered that $2000 rebate on all 07s. Final price before tax and all that stuff was $34,720.

I love it and now that its getting warmer I am loving it a even more. Going on a 7hr road trip tomorrow to ohio and cant to spend some quality time with the car.

haha and i knew david was going to revive this tread sometime.
