Default Need some quick advice!

Ok to make a long story short, I decided to buy a new 2007 Z touring roadster from a dealer for 35820.00 (it is an auto with nav). Paid my 1000 deposit for them to go get the car.

Dealer just contacted me saying that they sent someone to get it at another dealer and the car was sitting in a showroom with 1,200 miles on it. They are now offering me a $1,000 discount over the price they quoted me. He needs to know ASAP what my decision is.

Should I be worried about this car and/or should I be asking more than 1000 off? Help me! THANKS!

it should be sold as a used car if it has over 500 miles on it, try to get what used ones go for.

They're offerring you a discount of almost $1/mile.

Sounds like a pretty fair offer to me.

Your in Texas, he's in Florida. Different states have different mileage limits to determine when a "demonstrator" becomes a "used car".

In Ohio (I worked for a dealership for a while) the limit was 2500 miles.

Thanks guys. I told the dealer that I wanted to see a vehicle history report and proof that he passing 100% of the discount of the vehicle off to me.

He agreed to both and after seeing the vehicle history report it checks out. I told him to proceed with the sale.

This whole thing just caught me totally off guard.

Its a tricky situation. Most likely the dealer held one 2007 through the entire year as a demonstrator. 90 percent of the time a demonstrator is an automatic. I would take $1,000 for $1,000 miles if it is above your original agreement.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you want an automatic?

I was lucky enough for the dealer to let me test drive an automatic for a day, then a manual for a day. It changed my mind.

Yeah I wanted an auto. To be honest I have always had an auto and never really learned stick. I am sure I could learn quickly but dont really want to go through the hassle.

Yes, you should be worried about the car. If you're going to pay $35,000+ for a car anyways, spending $1000 more for the added security that it hasn't been abused in its earlier years isn't that great of a % relative to total cost but may save you major heachaches later on down the road. If it were me, I'd ask for my deposit back and tell them I won't buy that USED car unless they're offering $4000 off.

show your really interested, but do not buckle over the price. try to get it as low as you want. make a fixed price, and just keep pounding it in them...

lets say you want 2500 off..just keep man i love this car i want this but i need to meet my blah blah 2500 off and i'll take this right now crap....

thats what i got mine off in 04. for my 05. i low balled them, had the manager in there. at the end i got what i wanted, but not before threating to leave go to another dealership and get the price you want for a car with 1200 miles on it, that you do not know how the people who put all those 1200 miles on them

there is nissan dealership here in NC, they had a 05 nismo edition i guess Z nav, track edition one. w/e and the guy was telling me he'll sell thisto me. still for a high price, but he also then tells me i take this out once ina while and race this vs other cars int the area....ya that will sell this car to me. stupid *** huh....anyway..

if you want it that bad. pound them you want more off!!
