assume i will just tell the salesman i will "Think About It" and walk out. then perhaps send him an email and tell him something like you guys have recommended. perhaps make a low offer, see what he says.

the only other thing i have to add here is that the red 350Z is a dealer trade, he doesnt have it in stock.

I wouldn't send him an email or anything. When I was looking to buy mine, once the dealer realized I wasn't going to jump on the first offer he gave me he wouldn't stop calling me. Make them contact you....Sending an email makes you look too interested. I ended up getting an 03 Silverstone Touring w/ 14k miles for 21k. That's a steal.

i asked the salesman to give me a breakdown of his offer. he wrote back and said basically he is using the MSRP, giving me $9,200 for my suv, and taking that off the sticker.

according to Edmonds, my suv should bring anywhere from $6,600 to $8,000 on a trade.

whats up here? again, is this a poor, fair, or good offer?

Evaluating an offer involving an unseen trade in over the internet will be basically impossible.

My advice would be spec out both your car and the new car on edmunds and KBB. If the difference figure is in line with those guides and you are not going to have a money depression if you proceed, then go ahead.
