Z Coming Soon. 2 Questions (GAP ins. and clutch!)
Hey folks,
I'm going to pick up my Z in a couple of days, had two questions:
First, GAP insurance:
I know what it is, and does, and that I need and want it. However, my credit union I am financed through does not currently offer it (they couldn't say exactly when it would be available), nor does the insurance company I am currently with (Wawanesa-CA).
So... where can i get GAP insurance?
Will the car dealership offer it if it's not financed through them? Do other insurance companies (Geico, Progressive, etc) offer GAP-only coverage? Can it be aquired from a third-party company? (If so, anyone have any recommendations/experiences?)
Second, the clutch:
It is a 2008, and the clutch does seem like it would take some getting used to (I was expecting it, having read about it here and there on my350z.com).
I saw there is a method for reducing the clutch travel by adding some bumpers on the pedal - my question is, will adding the bumpers make a big difference, or will I be just as well off just getting used to how it works without any modification? Any drawbacks to modifying it?

If you can't find GAP insurance, throw down a hefty down payment or hope the gods have it in good for your car.

Like davidv said, leave the clutch alone. Only problem you might have is with the clutch sticking to the floor, but that's during hard launches/dragging...but worry about that when it arises.
GAP is able to be negotiated as far as the price but do your research to see how much over book value they are willing to accept and make sure they will also cover your insurance deduct. also. The policy we offer cost more than some local credit unions etc. in my area but they can not cover the same amount above book value and do not cover their clients insurance.
