Default 06 ppw track (56k arent you dead yet?)

I posted long ago and had given up on a 350z had been looking at GTO among others. Found my car last weekend.

06 Track with 13k miles on it. I paid way too much (over 24k) but i like it alot and dont plan on selling it evar.

Car is PPW and is pristine. Even still smelt new inside.
Keeping track now to make sure its not a oil consumer.

Does have a bit of a noise in first gear, waiting to see what happens in it finally gets some miles on.

i was starting to worry, was 25k after all the fees.

yeah track. No navi, cloth seats (fine by me, not a fan of leather and melting my ***.)

Thinking about mods already. Car is fun to drive, but i can definately see why people want it to lose 300 lbs.

I never really looked into perf mods or anything when i started looking into z's, but i find myself looking now.

I also want this sucker louder, my last car had a magnaflow exhaust and sounded great. This car is way to quiet, but id like to retain the noise the car makes. I heard one with no mufflers when i went test driving (in charlotte.) and it sounded amazing, so now im contemplating unbolting the muffler tonite to see just how loud that is.

Lemme tell you something those wheels we have are focking heavy.. i bought my 07 with the stock 18 inch wheels. After getting the wheels of a Nismo Z i definalty felt a big loss of power car.. Pick up is not great as it used to be with the 18's..
Get some lighter wheels first thing if your looking to lose weight!!!

see online it said they were lightweights, but now, well you guys have me scared. I bought the car b/c i love autox. They look amazing, but holy crap thats a heavy wheel. No wonder it feels slowish off the line.

is it bad i crave that magnaflow sound? Also, does teh car sound that horrible with the muffler gone?

Chris thanks for the props.

Xtopher is one of the chief reasons i got this car, i have ridden in his and LOVED the sound of his supercharger. That being said, i dont/wont have teh cash for that now or in the near future (in the next 4 years in otherwords). Engagement rings get expensive damn fast. So far as performance, i was going to autox it and slowly see about adding things. What id like is a nice round 300 at the wheels.

I know already that i want to get a winter beater just to save this car from the snow/salt.

does teh K&n drop in filter make a difference, or is just like normal, no difference at all?

Like i said, those wheels are heavy. You might be able to sell them for 1500 or so if you can clean them up. Then you can buy some of the 03-05 track wheels which are light, forged and strong.

Luke, what are the inspections like up there?

they only have em in one county up here.
Down by me nothing.
But any mod i have to plan with the knowledge that one day i may end up in texas. (who i believe has inspections.) So either has to be undoable, or ok with just general inspections.

if your moving to texas then you'll be ok with your basic bolt ons. you asked if the k & n drop in filter is a good air filter replacement? i believe it is because thats what im running in my car plus i think a lot of the people on here who are n/a are running the same air filter. i think there was a test that was taken that proved that the oem 06 intake showed better results then a cold air intake (aem, nismo, etc.)

also some other bolt ons that aren't quite expensive but show some good gains are the Motordyne 5/16 or 1/2 spacers, Motordyne MREV2 (lower collector), high flow cats or test pipes, and maybe some pulley's.

if you wanna get a meaner exhaust note then check out the intake/exhaust section and check out some of the videos and see which ones you like.

if i missed anything or was wrong on any of the above, anyone feel free to correct me

It was my understanding that the Track and the GT both have the Rays lightweight forged wheels. They are lighter than the stock 18s that are on the other trims. Of course, I could be wrong...

I have an '06 MT as well. I had thought that I read on the Motordyne site that the spacer alone won't do much at all on the rev-up engine. If you do a MREV2 + a 5/16 spacer, then it should good gains, ~15hp.

Those wheels are the same as the 03-05 track. They are made by Rays and are forged. Those wheels are lighter then stock. I should now I have the same ones on my Z. Dont sell them because people here would kill for them. I have an 07 Z and had the stock wheels and by comparison the track wheels are lighter then the stock rims but not by much. Also keep in mind that the track rims have more rubber on them then stock. Why dont you call the dealer and see how much they cost. More like $1500.00 each wheel. Also thats bullsh!t that they slow your car down.
