Default Used 2003 Nissan 350z (base model) or not?

I am new to the nissan z scene, but I have been looking through some forums after finding a 2003 nissan 350z base model that I am considering purchasing. It seems like there were a lot of problems with the 2003 and 2004 cars. Can anyone give me some advice on if buying this car is a good idea? or if there are certain things I need to look for that would make it a good idea or not? Finally, is there any way to find out exactly which cars were involved in the recalls (by VIN number) so that I can see if the one i'm looking at would have been involved? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks.

Robbie

I have a 03 base and have none of the problems at all. I believe tire feathering was a major issue with the 03 but I have none. Just drive it and see how it feels, go from there.

I just bought an 03 with VERY minor problems.
- lookout for tranny issue (mine was replaced by first owner)
- Window motor issue (motor needs to be replaced)
- Tire feathering
Again all of these are fixable and should have been fixed by the previous owner. Anyway if you need any more info just SEARCH!
